We secured our parking spot and unloaded into the pool house. Take the word pool house totally out of the equation, this little villa is the size of most condos where I live (Boston) it’s perfectly appointed, roomy and very clean. You walk through the gardens and multiple seating areas past a beautiful pool and you are in the back of this family’s compound. You have zero street noise and you feel like you are in the burbs. Both bedrooms are very user friendly with comfortable beds, nice linens and lots of pillows. Ample closet space and drawers in both rooms. The bathroom is great if there are mobility issues as the shower is very roomy and floor level. The place is modern and you are provided with every conceivable amenity that you could imagine and we took advantage of this for the holiday. All rooms have TVs and great cable. The icing on the cake however was the availability of literally anything you may have forgotten toiletry wise, and by anything I mean anything. She leaves stocked with all the condiments, breakfast items, tea/coffee, and snacks so you need not run to the store immediately. There were so many little extras I could not list them all. She checked with us a few times during our stay but otherwise we never felt like we were intruding in their life or ours, I will def be a returning guest and I’m grateful this family was my first experience in home share Always a peaceful sanctuary to unwind your day in LA! Beautiful evening lighting creates a magical, romantic retreat! There is no guest access to the main house. • Interaction with guests Our family live in the main house on the property. You may or may not see us, but I will always be there if you need anything. We are happy to share local knowledge and recommendations throughout LA but ultimately respect your privacy. •POOL The pool is solar assisted partially heated. Temp. range Winter 68F-70F. Swimming is pure heaven from June to October 80-95 F. No lifeguard on duty. The towels for the pool and the beach are in your room. I cannot accept requests for pool parties or uninsured filming. Our host provided us with a very clean, gorgeous space including access to the pool, BBQ pit and the entire yard and our own entrance. We got two parking spaces in a very secure and gated area. What a pleasure to come home after a day in LA and its endless traffic jams. We found directly calm and heat on the beautiful terrace by the pool. And for maximum relaxation we dive into the jacuzzi! We heard the birds in the morning (it is also not uncommon for a duck and his girlfriend, it will ask their names but we called them Lorenzo and Samantha ahah, come and say hello but really not invasive) But once again, what a pleasure for us city dwellers to take our coffee on the terrace with the sounds and decorations that the nature of the garden offers us. I write a novel, I know, but there are so many things that we liked! The bedding is just great we had very good nights, the linen is immaculate a bathrobe and slippers were waiting for us even when we arrived, our arrival would, let's talk about, we had just done 5:30 drive and we got was welcomed by Ashley with drinks, wine, coffee and treats. Philip, Kathleen and Ashley were great host and were very professional from the start. As soon as we booked our trip, Ashley sent us an email within minutes and confirmed our stay. Ashely was great at answering all the emails leading up to our vacation. The place was amazing and definitely better than the photos. They have a huge outside living area with multiple spots to hang out. The swimming pool was great and the two fire pits add a nice touch. The backyard/plants are well maintained. As soon as we got there, we were blown away on what was offered. Bottles of wine and cider was waiting for us. The also had a great selection of coffee, which made our morning exciting (choosing one flavor over another). They have everything, from extra towels, utensils, wine glasses, toiletries, microwave, etc.. etc.. etc... They also have embraced technology. They have Alexa there (amazon echo) and a device that measures your sleep - very cool! Bed is amazing and the room is very clean. They are located outside your typical LA toursity places. There is really no central place in LA, but we thought the location was great. Yes, you do have to drive everywhere, but that is all LA. We actually appreciated that we were outside the hustle and bustle of downtown LA/Sta Monica, but we had our own oasis. Everywhere was max 30 min drive (as long as you don't hit rush hour). Lastly, Philip, Kathleen and Ashely were great hosts. They were super nice, very helpful and gave us a lot of recommendations on what to do and where to eat. They were also very accommodating. Do yourself a favor and book this place now! ZEN QUALITY SPACE This is a truly unique experience on a safe and secure private 1 acre walled and gated estate in Sherwood Forest. Live it up! Try out the lifestyle for a day, a week or longer! A beautiful and safe neighborhood with interesting and unique housing styles including a castle. Our 1 acre estate consists of a main house with a separate but attached studio and a separate and non attached pool house which contains 2 beautiful bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The pictures tell the story No need to go through the main home. Come and go as you please 24/7 !! You are welcome to use various shared spaces, the pool, the BBQ, the outside kitchen, fabulous glass fire pit sitting areas, etc. This really is a very special place, safe and secure and peaceful. This is Caliifornia, so outdoor living is a must. A pair of French doors open onto a comfortably furnished outdoor patio overlooking the pool. Warm yourself in front of the glass fire pit, perhaps use the outdoor kitchen plus barbecue area. This truly is a place you have a lot of options, take a dip in the pool or check out the stars from the Spa, dine al fresco am or pm at various dining areas, relax with a book at several cozy spots. Sherwood Forest is a very unique and upscale neighborhood made up of large land parcels. Many movie stars have had homes here. Lucile Ball, Richard Pryor lived next door. We are also within a mile of California State University, Northridge while Medtronics is also within 3 miles. We are down the street from gas stations, places to eat and neighborhood supermarkets. We are in the middle of the Valley, major freeways are nearbY. We are 30 minutes from Universal Studios, Hollywood and the Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach (subject to traffic conditions) . CSUN restaurant row very close on Reseda Blvd. Private car is best. Public transportation is limited. Buses are available 3 blocks away. UBER is great. $40 from LAX . Airport bus service to LAX called FLYAWAY is 2 minutes from us. $9.75 each way per person, Depending on your departure times, happy to give you a lift to the FLYAWAY. Having a car in L.A. is the way to go. NO CONTACT ACCESS !!!!! COVID SAFE Our guests reviews say it all ! DESIGNATED PARKING SPOT inside gated property so you will not have to park your car on the street. Note that unrestricted parking is available on the street for guest guests.
