Guest access The village of Bernard is on Bass Harbor, which is a thriving working harbor. Lobster men are busy unloading their traps at the town dock, an easy walk from the apartment along the quiet Bernard Road. The Bass Harbor library and post office is also located on Bernard Road, across from the apartment. Fine dining, groceries, galleries, swimming, are minutes away in Southwest Harbor. Acadia National Park encompasses a large portion of Mount Desert Island. The park provides visitors with endless trails to hike and walk, ponds and lakes for swimming, guided tours and lectures.
