The space Anchor Cottage is a stunning 4 bedroom cottage converted from a former 19th century malthouse in a fabulous waterside setting, a smartly presented mews style cottage. Located towards the end of the Yealm Estuary that separates the popular villages of Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers, if offers superb family sized accommodation, well equipped and in a fabulous location from which to visit the two neighbouring villages and the South Hams beyond. Parking for two cars or car and boat trailer. Garage for secure storage of bikes etc. Accommodation Stairs up from entrance hall to first floor open plan living room with balcony and floor to ceiling French doors, corner sofa large flat-screen TV and DVD player, easy chairs and coffee table looking out towards the estuary. Dining area with handsome dining table to seat eight. Beautifully stylish fitted kitchen with electric double oven, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge freezer. Separate nook/study area with fast internet for working from home/staycation. On the ground floor level is the fourth double bedroom with 5ft (king-size) bed and hanging hooks, adjacent to the new lounge area with Smart TV and XBox, perfect for the kids to hang out in or for a family film night. There's also a shower room with WC which is ideal when you're coming in from a kayak or paddle on the Yealm. You'll find a handy sink and washer/dryer machine in the garage as well as pumps for the boards, bikes & footballs. On the second floor: Master bedroom with 5ft (king-size) bed, built in wardrobe, hair dryer and a beautiful Juliet balcony overlooking the water. Third double bedroom with 5ft (king-size) bed, under eaves cupboard with hanging rail. Large twin bedroom with 3ft single beds which can be made up to form a 5ft (king-size) bed if required, wardrobe and velux windows. Family bathroom with bath and shower over, wc and basin. Note: Some restricted height and limited clothes-hanging space in top floor double bedrooms. Outside Private area of lawn opposite the cottage with garden furniture provided, overlooking the estuary with a slipway for launching boats/kayaks/paddle boards. There is direct access to the tidal creek for boating, paddle boarding and kayaking Other things to note Noss Mayo is on one side of the estuary with Newton Ferrers on the other. At low tide you can use the Voss to cross to the excellent Ship Inn, The Swan is our local and serves the most delicious scallops. There is a well stocked community Post Office selling whole foods, Salcombe Bakehouse bread - the sourdough is sublime - cheeses and essentials. The Green Deli in Newton Ferrers serves breakfast, lunch and great coffee to eat-in or takeaway. The cakes are divine and there are seats inside & out. It's dog-friendly - well pretty much everywhere is here, including both our local beaches - all year round! There's also a small Co-op selling wine, chocolate and other essentials ;) There are three brilliant pubs which all serve food. They often have live bands at the weekend and have outdoor food options too - our boys love a pizza from The Swan or a burger from The Dolphin. We recently enjoyed a great birthday meal in the private dining room at The Ship - ask me for details. It's definitely not a place for hen or stag parties but if you like slow water sports, walking with your dog on the coastal path, bird watching at low tide or simply messing about on the beach, then you'll soon fall in love with Anchor Cottage. And if you do want a city fix Plymouth is 20 minutes away with a world class Aquarium, historic Mayflower Steps and harbour, 1930s seawater Lido and my personal favourite - the impressive Napoleonic Royal William Yard. We've often spent a wet Sunday at The Everyman Cinema relaxing on their super comfy sofas, sipping a cocktail & watching the latest blockbuster. And if you're driving down we're just off the A38 so super easy to get to.
