La Belle Ancienne (Ancient Beauty) is nestled in the quaint village of Assignan (936 AD), built on a hill near St Chinian, in the heart of a region steeped in history, as well as wine: the Languedoc. Exposed stonework, large wooden beams, a classic winding staircase from cellar to roof terrace, fireplace, marble sink and original tiles preserve the antiquity and charm of its medieval character. Though authentically restored, you will find modern comforts, such as deluxe bedding and towels, French press, smart tv (internet only) and dvd player. To the north from Assignan, you'll see the Montagne Noire and to the south, the Pyrenees. Wandering through landscapes of vineyards whilst enjoying the scents of lavender, rosemary and thyme, you are on the edge the Parc Natural du Haut Languedoc, with its majestic views.
