Delightful thatched holiday cottage

Swallows Cottage is a gorgeous 18th century cottage in a lane known as Shitterton in Bere Regis, close to Dorset's world-famous Jurassic Coast. It has a large, modern kitchen-diner, a bathroom and separate cloakroom, and looks out onto fields behind. The space Swallows Cottage is a charming and cosy period cottage with open wood fire, many original features and a large enclosed private garden that is ideal for children. The property is in a quiet country lane that does not have through traffic and parking is freely available outside. From here, the many beauty spots of the Isle of Purbeck are within easy reach, including the stunning Jurassic Coast, the ruins of Corfe Castle, Poole Harbour and Brownsea Island, the sandy beaches around Swanage and Studland, Monkey World and Bovingdon Tank Museum. Bere Regis is about five miles from Wareham, which has the nearest local supermarket, Sainsbury's, and about nine miles south of Blandford Forum, which has a large branch of Tesco (both will deliver to this address). The village shop is a short walk away in the centre of Bere Regis, next to The Drax Arms. A fish and chip van visits the village on Friday evening (Surf & Turf, parked on Elder Road, 4.45pm-last orders 6.30pm) and Saturday evening (Blue Whale, on the road outside the Royal Oak car park at the far end of the village, 4.30pm to 7pm). On Wednesday evening, the Basilico pizza van is at the same place as Blue Whale. Guest access Guests have full use of the cottage, including a large summer house/play room in the garden with BBQ and garden furniture. Other things to note This is an old property so beware of low ceilings and doorways (people were shorter in the old days!) and the steep and winding staircase. Children and the elderly should take extra care. This cottage is not suitable for guests with limited mobility. Due to fire safety rules, guests are not allowed to light candles or tealights, or to use barbeques. Please do not attempt to charge EVs using the sockets in the cottage. This poses a serious fire risk.
