The space This is an open-air Pacific house designed for outdoor living, sea breezes, and the spectacular setting overlooking the protected Boca Chica channel entering Acapulco Bay. Most guests spend their time on the large covered terraces, where meals are served, reading in the shade, swimming from the dock, or simply enjoying the sound of the ocean and the view toward the preserved island landscape across the channel. Walk through the tropical garden to the sea for swimming, snorkeling, sunset views, and watching the many fish and marine animals found directly in front of the house. Dolphins, turtles, tropical fish, and seasonal whales are often seen in front of the house. Bring a mask and snorkel and swim directly from our ladder and dock. The property is located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in one of the most secluded parts of Acapulco. In the 1940s and 50s, the house hosted many members of the old Acapulco social scene and is located near the former hotel once associated with John Wayne and Johnny Weissmuller (“Tarzan”). The villa and bedrooms are simple, clean, and comfortable, and the house has been intentionally preserved in its original 1940s style. Guests seeking AUTHENTIC OLD ACAPULCO generally love the atmosphere here, while guests seeking a highly modern resort-style experience may be happier elsewhere. Because the house sits directly on the shore in a lush tropical setting, you should expect harmless geckos, iguanas, tropical birds, raccoons, insects, and other local wildlife. The house suffered cosmetic damage during Hurricane Otis and is repaired, although restoration of parts of the garden is still ongoing. Guest access Guests enter through old iron gates into the tropical garden and walk up the driveway to the open-air house and terraces overlooking the protected Boca Chica channel. Many guests comment that the atmosphere changes immediately upon arrival — the sea breeze, the view, and the calm setting feel far removed from the city. The street outside is a quiet cul-de-sac. Small convenience stores are located a short walk away, with additional shops and services within a few minutes on foot. Other things to note We walk down through the tropical front garden to our private dock to swim in the sea. Water temperatures are warm year-round (84F / 29C in October). We do not have an artificial pool — for our family, the sea itself has always been the focus of the property.
