We are tucked away in the woods but only 5 minutes from Staunton, voted 4th Best Small Town in USA by USA TODAY in 2016. We offer a relaxing place to spend your time and we love to chat if time in your plans allow. We love the seclusion that provides us with a hide away but also allows us to be in our thriving downtown or on the interstate in minutes. There is free parking right at the house. Your rooms offer a private space with your own entrance, bedroom , bathroom and living room with t.v. to provide comfort and relaxation. You will have access to front and back decks, garden patios, all offering shade and seating for strolling or sitting. In same way of the good ol' days of bed and breakfast Beth and Janly are always on hand to welcome you and show you around the house and garden AND we invite you to join us for either a breakfast or tea during your stay. We can suggest places to eat, drink, be entertained with theatre, music, movies, and hiking opportunities . Our neighborhood is very small and secluded, with virtually no overview from others. As a practising artist, several art works by Janly are on display and for sale. Beth, a professional photographer also has work for sale . The living space of the house is accessible from a flight of steps with hand rails that are beside the parking area. Having climbed the steps one arrives at the front deck and entrance to the guest rooms You will access your own sitting room from here as this serves as your main entrance. From your sitting room there is a small hallway with entrances to your bathroom and bedroom The front and back deck are available at all times and you are welcome to sit and eat at the patio dining table. You are invited to all areas of the garden including the lower patio and and pond with fire pit. We will start a fire for you in the fire pit if you like and and there are blankets and even a book on star -gazing for you to use. Either Beth or Janly will be at the house to greet you and show you around . We are available most the time during your stay but you are entirely free to come and go as you please. We leave the lights on!!!!!! and if you are attending an event where you wish to relax and drink, we will gladly drop you off and collect you for a minimal fee. We do love to chat and get to know you a little if that suits but we can almost disappear if you need your own space. You call the shots . Within 3 minutes you can be in downtown Staunton where there are lots of coffee shops, restaurants of several different persuasions, art galleries, small locally owned shops with tons of variety. The American Shakespeare Center is a MUST DO even for the sceptic non theatre lover. Its the best!!!! This professional theatre co. performs around 3 plays a week, as well as theatre tours and workshops. go to (website hidden) for more information on this venue. From Friday to Sunday evening from April to November the main street is closed to traffic and many of the eateries have extended their outdoor dining and this popular addition has enlivened down town even more. There are several great restaurants, art galleries, a movie theatre . During the summer months that are free music events in Gyspy Hill Park several evening of the week. The Frontier Culture Museum offers an excellent insight into the history and culture of early settlers and the influences they brought to this first frontier. There's a self guided as well as guided tours of the historic district with many historic buildings of note. There is also a ghost tour occasionally. There are places to taste and buy wine and beer and a glass blowing workshop. The Shenandoah valley offers an abundance of opportunities to visit excellent vineyards and local breweries. There are some good hiking trails not too far away from the easy stroll to the demanding climbs to reach waterfalls. AND THE LIST GOES ON!!!!! Parking is right outside and at the bottom of steps that lead to the living quarters of the house. Parking in downtown is not a problem with lots of 2 hour free spots on the streets and 2 or 3 parking decks. In downtown Staunton there is a trolley bus system which traverses the major places in the city.i Its best to allow at least 2 days to more fully enjoy Staunton and all it has to offer, especially if you are on a road trip and enjoying the journey as much as the intended destination. Kick back and stay a while! Ask about a drawing class with Janly or a guided tours of some of the perennial plants in the large garden .
