Our Location Downeast and Acadia Bayport Cottage is located in Surry, Maine on the Newbury Neck Peninsula on Union River Bay with views of Cadillac Mountain and Acadia National Park. We’re just 45 minutes to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park and Schoodic Peninsula. Just 15 minutes to Ellsworth and Blue Hill—to name just a few. We’re off the beaten path but with proximity to sightseeing attractions, activities, shopping, restaurants, golf, and more. Bayport puts you in the heart of nature from the eastern white pine to the black-capped chickadee (Maine state’s tree and bird). Some of our guests’ favorite sightings are the harbor seals, wild turkeys and the majestic bald eagles. Everyone Who Stays at Bayport Cottage Knows About “The Rock” So what’s the rock, you ask? It’s a huge flat rock that appears at low tide. You’ll want to carry out a beach chair and some snacks so you can relax on what seems to be your own private island just feet from the water and bask in the fresh ocean breezes.
