The Nook, in its chocolate box location, is perfect for one couple or a small family to relax in this beautiful riverside village. This 350-year-old, grade II-listed cottage has been lovingly renovated to blend modern living with original cottage features. The exposed stone fireplace and painted beams make the living space light and airy. There’s a well-tended garden that’s ideal for summer, and a log burner for chillier evenings. There’s parking for one car, and the shop and inns are nearby. The space The Nook is a truly peaceful, chocolate box location. Perfect for one couple or a small family to relax in this beautiful riverside village and explore the wider South Hams. A very pretty holiday cottage, this grade II listed building is about 350 years old and has been lovingly renovated to a wonderful standard, combining modern living with lots of original cottage features to ensure a very comfortable stay year round. The open plan living area is a charming space with exposed stone fireplace and painted beams making the cosy room feel light and airy. Upstairs the master bedroom keeps the cute cottagey theme going and the second bedroom with a single bed and futon for younger families sharing. There is a private garden at the rear for alfresco dining in the summer and a log burner for chillier winters, there is also private parking for one car and the village amenities are a short walk away. Accommodation: The cottage can be entered from the front door on Lower Street or from the parking at the rear via the patio. The front door opens from the road into the hallway with space for coats and boots as well as a general storage cupboard. Through to the living room, a light and airy space, beautifully furnished, very much with comfort in mind. With white washed walls, oak flooring and exposed beams to set ambience. The lounge area is centred around the large inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove, 2 sofas and an armchair as well as window seat. TV with DVD and BT Vision. The dining area has a pretty painted dining table and chairs. A doorway and hatch lead through to the kitchen which overlooks the back garden. The kitchen has a slate floor and is well-equipped with cream shaker style cupboards, integrated washing machine/tumble dryer and dishwasher, fridge/freezer, electric oven and halogen hob, and microwave. From the kitchen there is a stable door to the patio garden and the parking. A traditional curved stairway leads up to the first floor from the lounge. The master bedroom maintains the cute cottagey feel and is furnished with a painted oak king-size bed with side tables, plenty of storage space and a built in wardrobe. The second bedroom has a 3ft single bed and a single futon. The modern bathroom has a bath with electric shower over, basin, toilet and a heated towel rail. This cottage may not be suitable for small children or the elderly. Please call for more information. Central heating and woodburner - logs provided for winter bookings. Outside: The Nook benefits from a delightful, private suntrap garden with river views – an idyllic spot to watch the sun set. This area is laid to gravel with flower beds and has plenty of seating. Parking: There is a parking space behind the cottage. Nearby: The village pub The Red Lion is a 2 minute walk up the road. The Red Lion also hosts the village shop and post office. A 10 minute walk will take you to The Quay where you will find the Ferry Boat Inn and The Anchorstone Cafe as well as ferries to Greenway and Dartmouth. The closest beach is Blackpool Sands, a 10 minute drive in the nearby village of Stoke Fleming. Guest access Guests have full access
