We have several suites each with their own decor and ambiance. All rooms have private bathroom, fridge/micro/coffee, free Netflix and fiber-optic wi-fi. Book one room or the whole house! Also enjoy on site lounge and restaurant (open weekends). The Levee Lounge is famous for its selection of local craft beers and wines. The best Victorian suites available in the Shawnee! A B&B style mansion, but plenty of private nooks and crannys to read a book and share a bottle of wine. The Riverview Mansion Hotel in Golconda has been the center of hospitality for a century. Also find the largest wine shop in Southern Illinois featuring the best of regional wines and beyond. The hotel bar, the Levee Lounge is a lively venue on weekends and during festivals. Bistro style sustenance available, i.e. pizzas and artisan tapas, cheese and meat plates. History Established in 1926 Built in 1894 as the private mansion for riverboat captain, John Gilbert, today's "Mansion" remains the jewel of Golconda's historic "silk-stocking row." In the mid-1920's, the Mansion was converted to the local hotel it is today. Boasting some of the finest craftsmanship available a century ago, the Mansion's millwork still awes visitors today. The six fabulous fireplace mantels are centerpieces of an architectural excellence seen only in the palaces of Europe. An exotic gingerbread arch hangs overhead at the entrance which lore says was removed from Gilbert's riverboat. Just beyond the elegantly carved, beveled door is the main staircase designed by the architect who created a similar grand staircase at the White House. However your eyes will be drawn upward to the unique 6 foot tall stain glass window at the landing. You will be amazed at every turn! Meet the Business Owner: Tony E. Tony has been active in micro tourism both in the US and abroad for over a decade. After receiving his graduate degree in Community and Economic Development, he has lived, worked and traveled to many regions around the globe. He brings this taste of "exotic ecclectic" to the Mansion in Golconda striving to boost the historic downtown vibe. he and wife, Beth are bringing life back to the Mansion while living their's with their four young children. You will be able to roam freely through the entire hotel part of the historic mansion. Beautiful architectural details and decor surround. The wine shop, gift shop as well as bar and restaurant (open weekends) will be the place to enjoy. My wife and I are always available to help you with any questions or provide information. Just a block and a half off the main street and behind the county court house, The Riverview Mansion Hotel overlooks the Ohio River is the perfect place to explore the surrounding Shawnee National Forest and Garden of the Gods and many other scenic parks. Plenty of well lit, safe parking on the street.
