FDB O'Donnell is dedicated to preserving the Daniel O’Donnell homestead in its original state. For those who stay at this divine place, we pray it provides peace and renewal for your days ahead and that you will witness God’s glory in the vastness of His blue sky, brilliant nights, warm sunshine, clear waters, deep fields, woodlands, and meadows. The O'Donnell Homestead entered the family in 1899 when it was purchased by Daniel B. O’Donnell. Daniel’s father was one of a small group of Irish immigrants who settled on Beaver Island in northern Lake Michigan due to its resemblance of their Irish home overseas on Arranmore Island. The O'Donnell homestead is a Michigan recognized centennial farm and is now run by the fourth generation. This is NOT your royal Hilton Four Seasons Wyndham Hotel, this is a 1890's farm house with antique furniture. The downstairs has been renovated back to the way this house was in 1980 with wood floors and rugs. Watch a movie on the still working 1980's style tube TV. Some renovations include: 2023 new King Mattress, 2022 new kitchen vinyl plank flooring, 2021 upgraded the bathroom and plumbing. There is no A/C - box fans provided, but seldom needed (occasional Northern Michigan heat wave). In and Out times are flexible depending upon cleaning service completion and other registrations. KITCHEN - Glasses / Plates / Silverware / Utensils / CrockPot / Coffee Maker / Stove / Microwave / Toaster / Paper Towels / No Dishwasher / Original fire stove (for looks only, no longer operating) BATHROOM - Towels / Washcloths / Toilet paper / Bring your own shampoo. The original bathroom added in the 1950s does not include a bathtub. BEDROOMS - Linens provided and washed by Cleaning Service after each rental Washer and Dryer. If you do require any assistance, our emergency numbers are on the check in sheet. The farm is located near the "four corners" just outside of town off Barney's Lake Road. Beaver Island is a remote island in northern Lake Michigan. This house requires a ferry or airplane ride. Vehicles reservations on the ferry should be booked in advance and often fill during the busy summer season. We expect guests to treat the house and land with respect and keep things clean so that we can continue to provide this unique and historic place to others on a timely basis.
