Expect some pot holes, rogue weeds and sticks, however you should not need 4 wheel drive to access. You can park right in front of the sleeping tent, walk a few feet to the patio & inside. Land is raw, ungroomed, wild and natural A couple solar lights illuminate the paths in the evening, but coverage is limited and a flashlight is advised. Arriving with some daylight is also encouraged as to familiarize yourself with the layout. The entire 5 acre property and its trails, paths, road and portable toilet (serviced regularly by Goodman sanitation) is SHARED with another Airbnb rental located in its own private setting. Please clean up after yourself and leave the space as you found it. The entire property is use at you and any of your guests own risk, one of our only requests as landlord is we do ask that you sign a waiver/release acknowledging you have read and understand the ENTIRE description/listing, as well as the risks and agree to hold harmless We are happy to greet you upon arrival and give you a small tour to familiarize yourself with the alternative off grid systems, and layout. If this is something you would like please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate. We emphasize that the property is yours to share in its entirety for both you(tent) and the other rental (sleeping hut)renters renters alike (and in the interest of full disclosure an occasional owl, deer, forest mouse, mosquito, bee, spider, snail, bat or slug will undoubtedly make an appearance). Although temporarily closed due to fire, a drive by the iconic Nordland General store can be nostalgic. If you have time park and take a stroll down the dock. If you're a shower a day person, Fort Flaggler (5 min. drive up the island) has full service public restrooms complete with showers (bring some quarters) flushing toilets, and not a bad view of the straits and Port Townsend. If Laundry is something you find yourself needing, Port Hadlock has a fine one, situated next door to the QFC market. Throw in a load and head across the street to the "Valley Tav" for the best veggie burgers around! no joke. Nine Mile adventures Camp sits peacefully at the end of an intentionally underdeveloped short plat. The property is made up of over 5 acres and is heavily treed with Grand Firs, large Western Red Cedar, Big Leaf Maple, Alder, Doug Fir, and many other native shrubs including edible berries such as huckleberry, salal berry, salmon berry. Micologists (mushroom hunters) are sure to find the treasure they seek growing fruitfully in these forests. Neighbors live symbiotically with the land, many are without electricity or city water as guests will experience as well. Please be conscious of the surrounding area and its inhabitants, animals and humans alike respecting normal quiet hours within reason. We suggest pack your rig with whatever suits your fancy; bring bicycles, hiking boots, roller skates, kayaks, paddle boards, kite boards (within a mile is a popular kite board spot on windy days). The island is a great spot for a bicycle ride and there are many beaches with easy public access, some within walking distance. MANAGING EXPECTATIONS: Nine Mile Adventures glamping tent experience is not for everyone if you are uneasy without your wifi, lights, running water or really any modern-day conveniences (there is okay cell phone reception) or on the contrary if bugs make you fidget or the quiet makes you nervous & you can't roll with occasionally unforecast rain, wind, fog or even foghorns! then this may not be your cup of tea (and that's ok). Be honest with yourself, does this listing sound intriguing or terrifying? please rethink before booking. Please understand that the camp is a work in progress, undergoing constant improvements & various projects may be underway during your visit. We try to keep it tidy but realistically that just isn't always possible. What we truly hope, what our vision from the beginning has been is that all our guests enjoy a unique, peaceful, handcrafted experience that brings each individual that much closer to our planet, respecting her maybe just a little bit more. Nine Mile Adventures hopes to provide you with a moment or more of tranquility and a fulfilling escape from society. Feel free to hug the trees.
