It is quietly located in the traditional village of Anopolis / Heraklion about 100 m from the village square. In the village one finds several cafenions, tavernas and a minimarket. Further shops, supermarkets,bars, ATM, can be found in Kokkini Hani some 3 km away,with a selection of local beaches. The gate opens into a small yard from where one enters the house. On the ground floor is a spacious and comfortable furnished living room and dining room with wooden ceiling, TV,stone built fireplace and a wood stove,which keeps all the house warm, separate WC/ Shower with washing machine. Next to it is a cozy terrace full of flowerpots and surrounded by a small garden, a BBQ and a stone oven. The perfect place to unwind, after a long day's journey. The open plan fully equipped kitchen with dining room too is separated from the living room by a stone archway. From the living room a spiral staircase leads to the first floor into the bedroom with 2 single beds. A large veranda facing the Dikti Mountains and the Monastery of Agios Ioannis can offer an amazing view over the countryside. Next to it there is a separate bedroom with double bed, a bathroom en suite with bath/WC and 2 balconies. All rooms are stone built and keep cool in the summer and warmer during the winter months. A nice place to relax and take part in village life. It offers the unique combination of peace anong with modern comforts and easy access to city life.The location of the village is ideal to explore the island. At GOLDEN CAGE tavern, try out local cuisine with different dishes every day, or just enjoy a cup of Greek coffee, at the village square. For families with children a water amusement park with lots of different slides is situated 1 km away from the village. Crete Aquarium, one of the biggest building complexes in Mediterranean, is only 5 Klms away,for those who adore and want to explore 2500 individuals of fish and invertebrates,link The local area provides lovely walks down country lanes of vineyards, olive fields, for those who enjoy walking/hiking. The monastery of St.John is situated across the main veranda. Hiring a car is recommended whether to visit the Minoan palaces of Knossos or Gortys or the fascinating old towns of central, eastern or western Crete. It's the character of Cretan tradition in its own environment that can offer hospitality in all seasons to anyone who likes to be close to nature and is looking for a life style away from busy rhythms of tourist resorts.
