This is where you want to stay! Away from all the traffic and noise of HWY 1, down a long driveway but super close to the village. Perched on the hillside with elevated panoramic views of the river and Wiscasset Harbor. This adorable little building is post and beam construction - comfy, quiet, peaceful on 34 acres of woodlands and river front. Want to squeeze in more kids? Talk to us. 2 quiet nonaggressive furry friends welcome. $20 per nt. per pet paid on arrival. Max pet fee $100. The space The cottage is outfitted with antiques and unusual pieces from our Navy overseas tours. Fun fact, when the Prince of Thailand owned the property, the cottage was staff quarters! It has a rustic feel, comfortable and clean with a FULL kitchen and FULL bath plus a large sleeping loft. Located in a wonderfully wooded area so you may experience a forest critter - deer, racoon, porcupine, fox, ants, ticks etc all outside hopefully : ) Bring bug spray and use caution at night, especially with pets off leash. The stairs to the loft are STEEP and open (see photos). Children must be able to negotiate stairs on their own. Not safe for crawlers and toddlers!!! We have a safety gate at the top. Quality mattresses and pillows are encased and all linens are soft 100% cotton. Want a down duvet in your cover? Let me know. High speed internet for streaming. Please drive slowly (5mph) on the shared drive around old farm house. HEATED by a wood stove - you must know how to light and manage the fire. I am happy to instruct you. If you need extra heat please talk with us. Bring fire starter with you. Enjoy our 34 acres and note we have bees, chickens, dogs and cats. All trails are ours and you are free to walk around and explore. You may walk along the train tracks to the trestle bridge. We want you to have a great time! Please share any needs not met or if there is something that would make your stay more comfortable. *Kayaks are available to experienced paddlers. There is a 12 ft tide and strange currents in the harbor where our boats are located. There is a warm water shower outside near the small deck on the back of our house. You are welcome to use it for muddy dogs. If you need towels just let me know. Guest access After living a diplomatic life and living/traveling around the word staying in many accommodations we want to provide things we have enjoyed. Comfortable beds, clean, rustic... The internet speed is fast and reliable and makes for easy work. You are welcome to wonder our entire property and lounge on the deck. The view is amazing and the garden is full of flowers. The Sheepscot River has a 12ft tide and it's fascinating to watch the shoreline change. There is no beach at the water front, it is very wooded, grassy and rocky. So beautiful to walk down the old train tracks to the 100+yo trestle bridge which has a Great Blue Heron rookery and nesting osprey. If your dog goes for a swim (ours always do) we have a warm outdoor shower and dog towels - just ask. Other things to note PLEASE always drive very slowly around the old house at the beginning of our driveway : ) It can't hurt to say this again. Heated by a wood stove! We have firewood for you to use for heating purposes. You can bring your own firebricks if you like. Please don't start a fire and then leave... If you fur baby is a barker please take it with you during the day.
