The Colorado Midland railroad used to to run through the property. Pieces of coal and spikes from the old tracks can often be found. Twin Creek runs through the property with numerous beaver ponds. Beavers can often be seen towards sunset and we often have visiting deer, rabbits, chipmunks and hummingbirds. Wild raspberries grow on the property and you are welcome to pick and enjoy them in late summer. We live in the area and can be reached anytime during your stay for questions, information on our area or any concerns. Please contact us during your stay if something is not to your satisfaction. We prefer to hear about and correct issues during your stay not after. We want our guests to have the best possible experience! The Beaver Lodge is close to Florissant Fossil beds, Eleven Mile and Spinney Mountain State Parks and within an hour drive to white water rafting, the Royal Gorge, Colorado Springs and Cripple Creek. So many adventures await you in the area! A Vehicle is a must as the home is secluded and in a rural area. The driveway is approximately 1/4 mile long and has some steep hills and sharp turns. We HIGHLY recommend 4WD in the winter and spring months. We do plow the driveway after snows but there is always residual snow and sometimes ice on the driveway. We receive most of our snow in March, April and sometimes May. The snows that we receive in the spring are wet and heavy and extremely difficult to traverse without 4WD. If you plan to visit during the months of March or April you will have difficulty accessing the home without 4WD if we receive snow. The home is at 8700 ft elevation. This home is pet friendly with a maximum of two dogs allowed during your stay.
