Charming Cabin Overlooking Sand Lake
This spacious, custom-built cabin overlooking clean, clear Sand Lake is the perfect place to create memories. Relax each night to a brilliant sunset on the expansive lakeside deck. Or bring the wine and cheese inside for a cozy night by the fireplace. Spend the day at the lake as loons float by, or gather at the large, live-edge oak table for meals and games. Nearby state parks and Duluth are easy day trips. The cabin is available for multi-week stays. The space This is a luxurious, custom-built cabin, lovingly crafted by the previous owner (a renowned contractor) for his family. The expert craftsmanship and eye for detail create a home overflowing with character and charm. Original Swedish architecture (vertical logs, inside and out), as well as a stone hearth from 1954 give it a warm, friendly glow. You won't feel like you're renting here; you'll feel like you're home. A huge live-edge oak table is the focal point of the main floor, and the perfect gathering place for meals and family games. Radiating from there are the living room with craftsman furniture and a modern kitchen with all amenities. Giant picture windows, revealing reliably gorgeous sunsets, animate the west side of the house. There are three bedrooms on the main floor, as well as laundry. Architectural features such as the "kids' counter" in the kitchen, original door latches and doors, and a hidey-hole playroom for kids in the stairwell will make you marvel. Decorative features like light fixtures, ornate railings, and old snowshoes hung in the common room will make you feel like you've been living here for years. Add to that a full basement (with ping-pong table), a bunk room, and a full second floor master bedroom (king-size bed), and you'll want to make this a regular retreat. Guest access In addition to the whole house, you'll have access to two kayaks, a stand-up paddle board, two kids' kayaks, and a paddleboat on our dock. Larger boats (pontoon and fishing) are available for rent from Sand Lake Resort, on the north shore of the lake. And if you like golf, you can actually boat up to the Moose Lake Golf Club across the lake. The Munger and Soo Trails are within 3 miles for great biking. The town of Moose Lake (and homemade pie at the Lazy Moose!) is a 5-minute drive. The Moose Lake Agate Museum is in Moose Lake State Park, and Jay Cooke State Park is nearby. Other things to note The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, eating and cooking utensils of every kind, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, pots, bowls, etc. This is our summer home, and you'll have access to everything we have. Charcoal grill. Washer and dryer. A fully stocked game closet. Set of Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books. Two full bathrooms with heated floors. Fast, reliable wifi. No television. The location of the cabin is ideal for both fishing and agate-hunting. Because of the topography of the lake, a great fishing spot resides just off shore. And because the cabin is on the eastern edge of the lake, waves are constantly bringing new surprises ashore.
