WHERE THE ART HAPPENS I work in my art studio which is in a separate building behind my home on the same property. If you you are curious and want to come see the studio or take an art lesson just let me know ahead of time. I've had many people do this while staying here and have photos in the profile for you to view some of the art people created. I can provide art experiences for anyone from novice on. An art session in the studio. 2 -4 hours minimum. I've taught for many years and capable of teaching art of many interesting genres or mediums including mixed media, acrylics and all kinds of paper. If you are interested in creating art on your own or learning from me I'd be happy to talk with you about what you'd like to do or study on. The meaning of the name of my art studio is Paper Cat Studio and the AirBnB space used to be my art studio before I built my larger studio behind the home. I have 3 kitties and they love to visit my studio and nest in my "art papers." Lily in particular is my sidekick/muse in the studio most of the day. She loves to nestle in the papers that I create with in my art work. I do have 2 sweet cats. The two cats stay to themselves, they are not allowed in the guest suite. There are plently of places on the grounds for you to relax. I have a beautiful peaceful back deck and front porch where guests are welcome to relax, sit have a glass of wine and or read. There is a fire-pit for cooler weather use. Feel free to walk around the yard and neighborhood. The neighborhood is a great place to walk, run or ride a bike. If you stay longer and need access to the washer/dryer, that is avaiable for your stay. My home and studio are on my property which is my sanctuary this also means it's your sanctuary too! I'd love to interact with guests when I can and if they want to. I'll share information, a glass of wine on the deck and or just visit. I enjoy meeting other people. I can provide art experiences for anyone from novice on. If you like schedule a short art session in the studio. 2 -4 hours minimum. ART FOR EVERYONE! I've taught for many years and capable of teaching art of many interesting genres or mediums including mixed media, acrylics and paper. If you are interested in creating art on your own or learning from me I'd be happy to talk with you about what you'd like to do. I also have smaller pieces of art work for sale in my studio and the AirBnB . Retreat, relax and create! My neighborhood was settled in 1790 and is called Newsom Station because of an old mill which was a trading post on the Harpeth River. The site of the old mill is within walking distance of my home at the end of the street. There is a day-only state park. You can see the ruins of the old mill there. You can drop in your kayak or fish at different places just a few minutes away. If your an avid bike rider you can take a bike ride directly from the house here. There are plenty of things to do in this area of town, such as: - The new ONE BELLEVUE PLACE mall with an organic grocery store, various eateries, movie theatre and shops are all within 5 minutes. - The Natchez Trace is 3 miles from my home along with - World famous Loveless Cafe and Shimai Art Gallery, same location. 6miles My art is shown in this gallery. - Purchase Tennessee artisans work at Mud Puddle Pottery, 5 miles (highly recommended) - Listen to local fiddlers at Fiddle n'Pick. 5 miles - Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and Mansion - Belle Meade Plantation museum/winery - Historical places such as the Battle at Franklin and Leipers Fork both within 20-30 minutes If you a nature lover and love to hike, bike, canoe, kayak or zip-line: - Harpeth River is minutes away including The Narrows of the Harpeth and Tip-A-Canoe both have canoe and kayak rental. - Edwin Warner and Percy Warner Parks - Montgomery State Park - Newsom's Mill State Park (walking distance from my home) - Hidden Lake State Park ( 5 minute drive from house) You will need a car as we are outside city limits or you may uber/Lyft to downtown. *Downtown Nashville 15 - 20 minutes I-40 East straight downtown *Downtown Franklin/Leipers Fork 20-30 minutes *One Bellevue Place 5 minutes, Organic Grocery, A lot of Restaurants and Coffee Shops, Stores, Movie Theatre *Percy Warner Park 8 minutes *Cheekwood Botanical Gardens 15 minutes *Bellemeade Plantation and Winery 15 minutes *Loveless Cafe 4 miles *Natchez Trace 4 miles *Airport 25 minutes *Fiddle and Pick 5 miles *Mud Puddle Pottery 5 miles *Music City and Tip-A-Canoe 10 miles *Adventure Works (Zip lining) 10 miles You can honky tonk, sightsee all day downtown and come home to quiet in the country. Here's a basic suggestion list for certain places: Right here in Bellevue just around the corner are plenty of places to eat but two of my favorite places are Publicity for beer and great pub food and Crumb De La Crumb for breakfast or lunch. They also have a great coffee house too. Then see Belle Meade Plantation which has tours, a distillery and plus a small cafe. Cheekwood is our local botanical garden and art museum with a outside sculpture garden and trails, decorated with lights that are spectacular seen at night during the Christmas season. We are very close to the Loveless Cafe which is famous for it's fried chicken and biscuits plus other country food. We go there all the time. You could then head to Leipers Fork and historic Franklin, I'd suggest taking the Natchez Trace to Leipers Fork which is a historic sleepy old fashion town with plenty of shops, art, a distillery and eateries. Then head on into historic Franklin. Franklin, TN is a very historic with Carnton Plantation/Battle of Franklin and plenty of shops to browse/places to eat. Beautiful architecture. Of course downtown Nashville is full of honky-tonks on lower Broadway. The Country Music Hall of Fame. The Frist Art Museum, 5th Avenue of the Arts. We have a world class symphony hall The Schermerhorn. Printers Alley. There are plenty of food places to eat downtown also. City Winery has shows, food and drinks. Next you could shoot over the East Nashville which is the eclectic part of Nashville that is where everyone wants to move and plenty of foodie places to eat along with many shopping spots. One of my favorite art galleries there is Art and Invention Gallery. You might check ahead of time to see who is playing at the Ryman Auditorium (they call it the Mother Church of Country Music) if you want to see a good show. If you like Bluegrass, The Station Inn which is downtown. Its a pick and choose kind of place. If you like alternative music Exit Inn. There is also a comic club in Nashville called Zanies. Hope this helps! Cats may be outside wandering the yard, you may interact with them as you see fit and they might interact with you if they see fit! Come say, Come sa! IT'S DARK OUT HERE It can be dark on the grounds at night because we don't have street lights thus, another reason why it feels like you are in the country!
