Casa Sponge is a typical two-storey country house, located upon one of the beautiful hills around Pergola (PU). It's the headquarter of Sponge ArteContemporanea cultural association, founded in 2007 with the goal to promote contemporary arts at the edges of the standard circuit. The space Casa Sponge is located right below the top of a verdat hill in the Marche inland with a fantastic view on the Appennines and their forests. On the outside is a typical two-storey country house while on the inside is completely dedicated to the contemporary art. As soon as you go in, you will immediately be enshrouded by bright colours and a familiar air. What makes it really unique is the wunderkammer (wonder-room), totally realized on reworked wooden pallets and full of national and international contemporary artists’ works, and the Artist Studio. These represent the souls of the ground and first floors, which are both divided into two bedrooms, a bath and a big lounge, nicely furnished and comprehensive of a kitchen. Originally the ground floor was a barn or a cowshed, but today is completely renovated, maintaining its rustic accent the original through; which perfectly marry the contemporary side of the house. The first floor is the headquarter of Sponge ArteContemporanea, a cultural Association born in 2008 to promote the contemporary art on the edge of the conventional circuits. Two are the features that constitute the essence of Sponge A. C.: the choice to work in the Italian province and the innovative idea of artistic research, that sees editors and artists working together, without proper roles separation. However, Casa Sponge is a true house, lived as such, that every month opens its doors to the public for events, exhibitions, discussions and workshops. Every time, this space transforms itself according to these activities. This gesture of openness to the public becomes an important signal in a society increasingly closed on itself. Guests have the unique opportunity to book three of the four bedrooms in the house: the Orange, the Blue and the Azure Room. Here guests will sleep among one of the monthly art exhibitions or surrounded by the pieces of art and installations left as a trace of the many artists’ passage. Last but not least, Casa Sponge has a small wellness section which offer holistic practices and external activities such as trekking and educational walks. Guest access Casa Sponge is completely accessible with the only exception of the owner bedroom and the Artist Studio on the first floor, open during the exhibitions or by guests’ request. Casa Sponge is founded upon the concept of Hospitality and its guests are encouraged to loose themselves inside and outside of the house wonders. During your stay Respecting the association's spirit we are always ready to provide details and reports about the works displayed or information about the local area. In order for the guest to have the best possible experience, no constant interaction will be sought; unless they wish to expand the knowledge of Casa Sponge. Other things to note In the house there is a very friendly Pekinese dog. Usually they do not disturb the stay of our guests.
