Sunny guesthouse with plenty of privacy in Mountaindale, Sullivan County, 2-hour drive from NYC. 3 bedrooms, open plan living room/kitchen and dining room, barbeque area, etc. Wooded setting, spacious yards behind Main House; stone walls and gardens, fish pond and surrounding forests, variety of wildlife. Magically quiet. Vegetable, herb + berry gardens. 10-minute walk to lake and canoe. 1 mile from village. Only living room/kitchen has AC. Other rooms have fans. Avail. April - early Nov. The space Super sunny rooms, cool at night; three bedrooms (one with queen bed, one with double bed; and one two single beds). Master bedroom (queen size bed) on ground floor, two bedrooms on 2nd floor. Steep stairs to bedrooms upstairs. Eat in kitchen which is well equipped. Dining room is set up as office; Living room or bedrooms can also be used as office. Maximum four guests. Guest access Four acres with a gold fish pond, hiking trails in the surrounding woods, barbecue grill and hickory wood, open pit for fires, patios, picnic tables, lawn chairs, mountain bikes and helmets, as well as access to quiet lake for canoeing and skinny dipping. The kitchen with dishwasher is completely equipped. Coffee, tea, cooking oils, condiments included. New laundromat in village; access to washing machine in Main House; Good wifi access. Landline. Other things to note April/May is end of winter in Catskills - still pretty raw, and land is wet and muddy in places but hiking is best because of no foliage. June is the nicest month for flowers. July/August for berries. October for foliage! Fantastic hiking in nearby Bashakill wetlands + Shawangunks incl. Minewaska State Park as well as rail to trail in village and neighboring villages; serious theatre (Shadowland in Ellenville), music concerts (Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center) all within short drives. Cycling, fishing, rock and mountain climbing, gambling close by. We have a canoe on lake 10-minute walk away. Yoga classes in village as well as art galleries, two excellent restaurants and bar on the creek, bike rental, upscale organic market and sandwich shop, convenience, antique and vintage store, laundromat, synagogue. Good supermarkets in Ellenville (7 miles), Rockhill (8 miles), Monticello (12 miles) and Liberty (12 miles); several farmers markets nearby; art/craft/vintage market in village every second Saturday of the month. Town park with swimming pool and boating.
