Sunset Point Cottage in Haliburton Highlands

Now accepting bookings for weekends, long weekends, weeks and more! Sunset Point is a private cottage w/ 256 feet of pristine waterfront on crystal clear Esson Lake in the Haliburton Highlands. This 2-acre, lakefront oasis is south-west facing and gets sun all day long. Forested crown land to the north elevates its beauty and privacy. The space Welcome to Sunset Point! Waterfront paradise! Crystal clear water for swimming, boating and fishing. Roaring wood stove comfort and ambience for reading, relaxing and playing board games with the family in the Muskoka room. Vibrant autumn colours of September-October, mild temperatures and no bugs makes for an unforgettable getaway! Come escape the city and relax, reset and recharge at Sunset Point! Our spot is perfect for an extended family or a small group of friends. Esson Lake has a limestone bottom which naturally purifies the water. In 2017, a new dock and ladder were added for easy entry into the lake. Water depth off the dock is approx. 12 ft in early summer so it is great for diving down and swimming over to the floating raft. There is no gradual shore. Natural landscaping allows for more sunbathing spots in sunny and shaded areas. There are approximately 30-40 gradual stairs leading down to the dock. The cottage itself has a newly renovated basement complete with finished walls and vinyl plank floors throughout (2022), renovated bathroom and new dock ramp (2021), newer front deck (2018), newer metal roof (2018), all new siding, soffit and fascia (2018), fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, fridge and new stove, cozy bedrooms with storage and the piece de resistance gorgeous Muskoka room with dining area/lounge and a den (2018). Our antique dining table seats 6 comfortably but extra chairs are available. We added a new BBQ (2022) with a direct propane line (2018). There are several spots around the cottage to enjoy a bite outside or simply to lounge. Fire pits are located at the water's edge and beside the cottage. The WETT certified wood burning stoves on both levels heat the cottage up in addition to the propane furnace for cool nights and autumn days. Unlimited parking. Master Bedroom (queen bed) and Bedroom #2 are on the main level. In addition to the bunk beds in Bedroom #2, there is a crib mattress suitable for a toddler. Bedrooms #3 and #4 are in the finished lower level. There is one queen bed, and one double bed in EACH bedroom. Guest access Entire property. Some fire wood may be provided in designated areas but is not guaranteed. Please bring your own firewood to avoid disappointment. There are several vendors along the route who sell wood at a reasonable price. There is also firewood for sale in Wilberforce. 2 child and 2 adult kayaks. 1 rowboat with assorted paddles. Adult life vests provided. ***Please bring your own child life vests for proper fit. The garage and lake shed will be locked. The outhouse is functional. Other things to note Sunset Point is a PET-FREE, SMOKE-FREE ZONE! Special Winter Info: Winter tires and All-Wheel drive/ 4 Wheel drive are mandatory as there are hills on our road and driveway. The dock and boats have been removed for the season but there is still a wooden lookout and beach area to enjoy the frozen lake view and sunsets. Extra fees apply after 6th guest, $75/night per extra guest. 8 guests maximum at anytime. Security deposit is subject to forfeiture if more than 8 guests are present at anytime during the stay without the express written consent of the host. NO LARGE GROUPS PLEASE! Indoor activities: Internet, toys, books, board games, puzzles, Fire tv/ dvd player Outdoor activities: kayaking, swimming, fishing, croquet, bocce ball, slack line, basketball hoops. ***Nearly all essentials are provided, including bath towels. The only thing you need to bring is YOUR OWN BED LINENS (top and bottom sheets and pillow cases) and beach towels. We have 3 Queens, 2 Doubles and 2 Twins (bunk beds).
