Apartment in Treetops on Dry Fork River

Sunlit studio apartment above workshop building surrounded by Monongahela National Forest. Large deck overlooking Dry Fork River, Green Mountain & Otter Creek Wilderness. Feels like a tree house! Enjoy a cozy, private getaway with a breathtaking view & river sounds. Short walk to Otter Creek Trail. Property runs along Dry Fork River with lovely bedrock "beaches". Great base for all outdoor adventures. Kitchenette & shower in the space & bathroom steps away. Covid vaccinated guests only. The space This is a studio apartment on the top floor of a workshop and storage building. There is a king size bed with a window at the head to see the moon, river and trees. It has tall windows facing Green Mountain and the Dry Fork River and is located on the old railroad grade of the 19th century Dry Fork Railroad. There is a wrap-around deck. There is a kitchenette in the apartment with a two burner stovetop, a microwave, a coffee maker, a crockpot, a fridge and a sink. There is shower in the apartment. Regardless of the time of year, the view is beautiful. We are at the base of Canaan Mountain. The room faces Green Mountain which can be seen from the deck as well as through the apartment's tall windows. You can pitch a rock into the river from the deck with a gentle toss. Sunsets are different every day and the interplay of light and water is magical. Guest access The kitchenette in the apartment is described above. In the bathroom inside the main house there is the washer and dryer which you may also use. Walks around the property are encouraged. The river is nice for swimming, fishing and kayaking. There is an old railroad grade in front of our house where you can take walks and we are happy to point you in the direction of nice hikes. Walks around the property are encouraged. During your stay We are often busy with work and property maintenance but enjoy conversation around the campfire or over coffee, wine or beer. Other things to note We have rustic facilities for toileting needs. Contact us if this gives you any pause and we'll explain. There is no cell phone service where we live. There is a landline phone in the nearby house. Internet access is available. You can send and receive messages and emails, do searches and visit websites. While we have wifi, we have limited bandwidth so you may not stream videos of any length while you are here and you may not upload or download large files, play online games, or do audio of video chat. Also, you cannot use a wifi hot spot. Please turn off video autoplay in any social media platform and since Instagram does not allow turning off video autoplay, please do not get on Instagram while you are here. There is a public library in Parsons, fifteen minutes away where you can more fully access high bandwidth features. There are steps up to the apartment which is a split level space. In addition, there are steps between the apartment and the inside bathroom. This apartment is not handicapped accessible. While the place is a great place for kids (we raised our two kids here and one of them has moved back to build a house!), it is right by the river and they will require close supervision. We love having kids around! Occasionally, during extreme winter weather, our water pipes freeze. We have ways to work around this, but we want people to know that this can happen in extreme cold weather and that it may affect your stay. If this were to happen, we will let you know immediately.
