The space The bdrms have 2 queen beds and a full and there's a small real mattress single set up as side lounge furniture in two of the rooms for up to 8 guests. There is also a fold out roll away single in one of the closets as well. A video can be seen using the link under the 'dining room' picture in the photos, picture #2. Located 2 blocks from State St for nightlife and restaurants, this vacation home is walk-able from the Train station and 7 blocks to the ocean. The Ocean Breeze House is a functional 1905 home directly downtown in Santa Barbara. This is not a boutique or high end rental, and does not try to be. Instead it is highly functional with a modern washer and dryer, a full kitchen and plenty of comfort and usefulness for up to 3 couples (plus more) to each have a room and bath, and to gather in common areas, an equipped kitchen, a lovely stoop porch and fenced yard with BBQ equipment. Much more like being at home instead of gatherings in hotel lobby's. Because it is still the most often question we are asked; is it really 3 bedrooms? Yes! 3 bedrooms each with its own full bath in each bedroom; 3 showers, 3 tubs, etc. One of the baths are small but each have a full tub/shower. 2 of the baths were added to the home during the last 100 years and 'were made to fit'. ADD-ON: 1) Mexican Breakfast or Lunch! Prepared and served by our own Maria. Authentic hand pressed tortillas and hand ground salsa! Huevos Rancheros style w Beans, rice and all ingredients from scratch. Guests choose salsa intensity. Up to 6 persons, additional $18 per. BONUS: Dining and Kitchen left perfectly clean and put away (Maria is main housekeeper). Breakfast for 6 $150, add $18 per additional guest. Lunch and Dinner $175. 2) Floral. During our housekeeping prep for you we will place beautiful sunny bouquet's in the living room (and dining if seperate) and smaller displays in each room. $85 The TV has ROKU and is ready for your own home acct if you like. But ROKU has Hundreds and hundreds of movies, TV shows and children's shows. An antenna is also on for local stations to get local news and weather. There is no Cable. NOTE: Air Conditioning is rarely needed in the beach town of Santa Barbara. However there will be 2-3 weeks a year that can become uncomfortable. We have added Air Conditioning to our rental, however it is a portable model kept in a closet, and requires rolling near the living room window and attaching the hose and fitted bracket to operate it. If you close the bedroom doors this unit is sized to be effective for the living room/kitchen combined area, and help you avoid hot days. This is not central air. The evenings will be cool again and the whole house will be comfortable overnight in all the rooms. If you are here during a heat wave you may use it. NOTE 2: We have neighbors who will not be happy with any guest group more than posted on your reservation, or with any party related behaviors. They will document and report any abuse and deposits and fee's can be applied. Please do not make any plans like that (thx). Smoking is not allowed in the home. Smoking is highly regulated in the City limits. Smoking is allowed outside, on the stoop for instance and elsewhere on this property, but not indoors. We are pet owners and invite pets without upfront extra fee's. The floors are all hard surfaces and pretty much pet friendly. There is a fenced yard. If your pet causes soiling in the home there is an excellent vacuum in one of the closets to stay away from any extra cleaning fees due to the pet. Using the yard for non-clipped nails pets and/or excitable pets will avoid possible damage. We do have a Pet Fee's if we find beach sand or pet hair inside and any manner of pet waste which has been left for our crew to clean up inside or out. We want pet owners to have a NO COST option, however you must mitigate extra cleaning caused by any pet. Vacuuming pet hair and light mopping a rooms floor if needed is an owner responsibility to avoid charges. Using the fenced yard (see pictures) and limiting the pet time inside might be a good minimization for instance. You are 2.5 blocks off State Street and you are at block 500 of State at the intersection of Paseo Nuevo Mall and State. This means you are 7 blocks from Sterns Wharf, at the Ocean and State. Nightlife is in the 500-800 blocks of State. There is a host of restaurants, clubs and shopping as you turn left on State. If you go up State to the 1300 block the interesting areas of State culminate at the Arlington Theater. A rich and historic theater which premiered many a movie in the 30’s and 40’s, and now also hosts the SB International Movie Festival each year. Around the Arlington are several classy restaurants, Bouchon’s, etc. across the street is Carlito’s, a good Mexican place as well. Back down State a block or so to Figueroa, hang a left. You are at the Museum of Art at State and Figueroa, but walk a block east on Figueroa and you will be at the upper corner of the SB Courthouse, considered the most beautiful public building in America. Gorgeous architecture and there are tours as well as perfect views of the city from the Tower. Further down State you begin to enter the club and activity zone again. There are many movie screens on State street and this main City street, now a walking street from the 500 to the 1500 blocks, it ends at Sterns Wharf on the Pacific Ocean. As mentioned, there is a porch or 'stoop' and a sitting area in the forward fenced yard and off-street parking in the rear yard. Smoking is not allowed inside but, in the yard, and outdoor areas it is fine. The front yard is made a more private by a high hedge. The solid wooden red oak floors are original and an attic forced air heater brings modern comfort to an original home from another era. Haley feels very much like a period farmhouse, with large airy rooms, high Victorian ceilings and a very inviting overall feel. Not a new house, but everything works, and it is a comfortable and practical home for your use. General Information. Parking The House has a driveway and rear parking for 2 cars, however 3 smaller modern cars will fit. The rear parking lot is designed to allow turning around to make it easier and safer to exit to the street. But there is room to get 4 or 5 cars off the street in a pinch. All but the final 2 will have to back out, old fashion style. There is street parking which can go quickly. Watch out for the weekly street cleaning hours! And bear in mind the original Model T driveway is narrow at one point, and visibility passing the sidewalk and into the street is limited. Driving in, turning around and leaving are the best plans. Backing up requires caution. Noise The House is 2 blocks off State Street in Santa Barbara making this a genuine urban rental, complete with city sounds. Especially on Friday and Saturday nights there may be street noise which will impact the front bedroom. Car sounds and foot steps on the sidewalk should be expected on weekend nights. The other nights are noticeably better, but bear in mind that the most forward bedroom will not be the quietest one. A good alternative to the 'master' may be the rear bedroom which also has the exit to the back, if you want to plan ahead. One room is smaller: The middle bedroom is the smallest. We still have a queen in there for an excellent night’s sleep. But there is not much room other than the bed and the bathroom. Good closest space though! Infants and children: This home is remodeled and designed for adults, tourists and traveling businesspersons. We welcome young children but at the same time do not recommend young children. The hardwood floors are far cleaner than whatever might be in a hotel carpet. We vacuum and Pine Sol mop between EVERY guest stay. But we do not represent a clinically perfected environment and ask that you use baby blankets and normal hotel tactics to protect crawling young ones. Sometimes new parents bring expectations of hospital perfect surfaces, and we are unable to please these guests to that level. Walkability Can you do a family trip to Santa Barbara and forego the car? You can at this House, in downtown Santa Barbara. You can Amtrak in using rolling luggage and walk to the Haley House ( about 5-6 blocks). History This district of Santa Barbara is unique and contains some of its original 19th century roots. The Haley House is 2 blocks from the corner of Haley and State, and until the Freeway was brought through Santa Barbara in the 1950's, the main drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco ran along Haley Street (coming from Milpas, not out front of the Haley House ), then a right turn onto State Street to head North again toward the lemon groves and then on to Gaviota, and on. The original cut stone curbing tells the old story of the neighborhood and it was easy to go out the door and down the street 5 blocks to the ocean back then. Now it takes 7 blocks so you can walk to State Street first and then under the Freeway. The train station dates to the time of Haley House as well, and this marked a new era for Santa Barbara. Prior to the trains arrival in 1899 and the station being finished in 1905, the only way in to SB was over the San Marcos Pass by stage couch or by ship, which would dock at Stern's Wharf. The wood work and lumber for the Haley house likely arrived dry at the location having been offloaded from Sterns Wharf. And not floated in from the barges as they did prior to the Wharf's arrival. Stern's Wharf is still the oldest operating Wharf in the West, serving people more than cargo these days. There are a dozen cruise ships that call on SB annually as well. Haley House is still at the heart of SB, not in the rich foothills of the Mission or the glam of Montecito, but in the everyday area in our origininal Santa Barbara. Walk to nightlife and back home again. SB is a mile every 10 blocks, and the whole of downtown SB downtown and nightlife is within your reach from the Haley House within that distance or less. Going to the County Bowl? It is a 19 block walk, or 2 miles. We suggest walking to State Street and turn left to go up to Anapamu. Pedal or Rickshaw bikes can run you the second ½ of the way for a nominal cost. Fiesta is a busy time in Santa Barbara. Expect everything to be more: More traffic, more congestion, more street noise; more fun!!? Note that many streets close on parade days and crossing town in a car can get impossible! State Street, 2 blocks Amtrak Train Station, 4 blocks Stern's Wharf and the ocean, 7 blocks Main fun block of State street, 2, 3 and 4 blocks. Fine restaurants (generally on State), 2 to 5 blocks
