"Good Night Moon Vintage" El Rey Glamping
Description
We are near Quechee and Woodstock, our vintage trailers are placed down across from each other next to our wildlife pond. Our property is a rural setting, we provide a composting toilet outhouse. Get out and explore the Upper Valley, returning to the cozy 1955 El Rey trailer or our 1947 Curtis Wright Airstream. The space Looking for a warm and cozy space? We’ve got 2 fun vintage trailers down by the pond, each trailer has its own charcoal grill and fire pit, a set of very comfy Adirondack chairs and umbrella. Our 12 acre property is heavily wooded and late spring through fall are great times to enjoy the outdoors. Camping with a trailer is a fun experience for the adventurous. We do NOT have a kitchen, there is a SHARED 3 burner gas stove in the yard and dishwashing sink with 5 gallon potable water containers. While we offer as many amenities as possible, we do want our guests to realize this is a camping experience. The area down by the pond where they are located is truly a nature experience. Guests have seen bear, porcupine, skunk, deer, raccoon as well as our Barred Owls, Great Blue Heron, chipmunks and mink. Not to mention the frogs, salamanders, trout and crayfish in the pond! As we are now allowing pets in the El Rey, please ensure that they are leashed, not harassing our wildlife, clean up after them and be mindful of other guests. Please do not allow pets on the bed, bring a dog bed with you. The pet fee of $20 is for one pet. Pet damages will be the financial responsibility of the guest. Under no circumstances can pets be left in trailers alone. Presently the swan paddle boat is grounded due to a lost plug. Our location in the woods is extremely dark at night and we are NOT conducive to late arrivals as a result. It makes for frustration for ourselves and you the guest. Please ensure that your arrival is no later than 630 pm. Check in first and then head out for dinner or sightseeing. We provide some basic pots and pans and BBQ utensils, a colander, knives, grater and hot pads. Feel free to bring your own specialty cookware. Each trailer has silverware, mugs, plates, bowls, a coffee maker and grinder, electric water kettle, salt and pepper, sugar and organic coffee beans and cutting board. Bring anything else that you want to add for your own comfort, such as a cooler and ice, flashlights and rain gear. There are many choices for dining in our area if you prefer to eat out. Our Curtis Wright is 75 years old and the El Rey is 69. Please expect those vintage aspects, such as door handles, screens, windows, awnings etc. that function according to their age. These are not new modern trailers and we think that adds to the appeal! However they are clean and cozy! The trailers are thoroughly cleaned for each guest but are vintage. The El Rey has its own small charcoal BBQ grill and metal fire pit. Our sweet wildlife pond is pristine, spring fed, and has an abundance of wildlife in and around it. You may even see the barred owls hunting for frogs at night. Swimming is allowed during daylight hours only. Please read the house rules regarding rinsing off prior to swimming and refraining from getting suntan oil etc. in the pond. We rent either the 1955 El Rey or our 1947 Curtis Wright Airstream. This listing is for the 1955 El Rey. This is our 9th year to offer the Curtis Wright Airstream, please see our other listing for it. It’s titled “Good Night Moon Vintage” Airstream Glamping. You are welcome to build a fire in the fire pit and toast marshmallows or grill.... Kindling is available as fallen branches however for larger wood, please purchase locally for whatever you intend to use, or order from us. We do ask that you start your fire the old fashioned way and do NOT use gas, diesel etc. which will leech into the pond and harm our wildlife. We usually have wood on site for sale, advance request is required and we do not deliver after 5 PM so please make your choices accordingly. Payment is upon arrival with cash only, $10 per bundle of logs, kindling, and fire starter. A bag of charcoal is $15. Our wonderful resident bats do a great job at night clearing insects! Sit out by the pond and watch them arrive at dusk! Our Phoebe Flycatchers build their mud nests all over the property and have 2 baby bird hatchings usually by mid-summer. They help keep insects down as well. If it’s a clear night, the stars are usually amazing in the sky over the pond. We live up in the house above the trailers and are available to you if needed! Please contact us by phone or text and respect our space. For showers, guests can make the 5.7 mile drive down to Quechee State Park opening May 23rd this year and pay a $4 day fee to use the solar showers which take quarters. The park closes October 18th in the morning. If you reserve after that date there will not be showers available. We look forward to sharing our little slice of heaven with you. While we know that each customer’s expectation is subjective and hope you read the listing thoroughly before reserving, we feel that we offer a unique escape from the day to day norm. If you as a guest are less than content with any part of your experience, please inform us WHILE you are here so we can make corrections! “Better to step out of your comfort zone, enjoy new experiences & not know what's coming your way, than stick to routines & be bored with the same end results.” ― April Mae Monterrosa Guest access Our 1955 El Rey is one of our 2 trailers, a cozy 20 feet in length.
