Description

Cozy 128-sq-ft (9.5 x 13.5) room—about the size of a B&B room—in an eco-friendly house with a queen bed, separate entrance, private outdoor hot/cold shower (NO inside shower), patio, garden, 1/2-bath, off-street parking, Wi-Fi & micro fridge. This peaceful oasis is close to downtown Mill Valley, Mt. Tam, hiking/biking trails, Sweetwater, beaches, Muir Woods, SF; 1 hour to the World Cup. Fee includes 12% tourism tax. You may ONLY book for yourself & a traveling companion if any. No kids under 8. The space I have lived in my house, on a quiet residential street, for more than three decades and I want you to feel as at home here as I do. The cozy room (9.5 x 13.5 feet)—about the size of a room in a historic B&B—features an armoire for your clothes, 100 percent cotton robes to use while you are here, a comfy chair and desk, a generous mirror, two nightstands each with a lamp for nighttime reading and outlets to charge your phone and laptop, a bookshelf filled with books to inspire as well as guide you to local hiking/biking trails and attractions, a cozy bed with 100 percent cotton sheets, and a micro mini-fridge (it can hold up to 15 cans, and is to the left of the bookcase). Please note that this is just a room — there is NO access to a kitchen or living room, and it is not set up for any sort of meal prep or cleanup. An extension cord is provided as well as a multi-sound white noise machine. Although this is a private room with a separate entrance, it still is a room in a house that I live in with my dog with a shared wall—there are no shared spaces. I have put up lots of soundproofing, but it's not perfect. I am very respectful of my guests and limit noise as much as possible past 10 p.m., but you may hear muffled human voices, household noises and the occasional dog bark and I will likely hear you. I would therefore appreciate limiting noise between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. Thank you! A coffee maker and hot water kettle are included as well as coffee/decaf coffee, a variety of teas, creamers, sugar and honey, and filtered water, as well as mugs, wine glasses and water glasses. The room has a small Vornado heater (if it's not working, there is a reset button on the bottom that you may need to press a few times and place flat) and a Nautica vintage-style fan. There is a baseboard heater that I turn on at night in the winter. It gurgles (sorry!) when it's on. You can control how much heat you want or not by turning the knob at the far left of the baseboard heater. Please return it back to the setting you found it on (two red bars). Please note that this space is not suitable for children under 8 years of age or for animals of any kind— I have a rescue dog who is very sensitive and does not do well with other animals on the property. Guest access To get to your room, enter on the far LEFT SIDE of the house facing the house, do NOT enter the front fence gate. Continue straight through the gate door with the WELCOME sign, and along the brick and gravel path (the brick is uneven so please exercise caution) ALL the way to the very back of the house, NOT halfway. Please refer to the pictures I have posted. Turn right on the deck and make another right to get to the sliding glass door, which will be unlocked (key inside the room). Your dedicated parking spot is in front of the rubber reflective parking barrier in front of the mailboxes, in front of the number 5 please be sure to leave room for two cars to your car's left. My house is walkable (15-20 minutes) to downtown Mill Valley, four supermarkets, and numerous restaurants, parks and hiking trails. There's a bus stop at the corner that can take you to San Francisco and other places in Marin. During your stay I will be happy to make myself available if you need help, suggestions, etc. I'm just as happy to stay out of your way. I do wake up early on weekdays and my coffee machine is not quiet, sorry, but it is quick. Other things to note I have a rescue dog, Mia, and although I have soundproofed your room as much as I possibly can, you may hear her bark during the day (never at night) Please note that the room has a half bath but ONLY has an outdoor shower—it's private with hot and cold water, but it is outdoors. There is NO indoor shower. Because California is in a drought, please limit your showers to 5 minutes or under. Thank you! Recycling is available; please recycle all you can by following what's OK and not OK to recycle on the diagrams on the bins (empty glass, plastic and aluminum cans ONLY in the blue bin; paper in the brown bin (no paper coffee cups!); food scraps outside of their container, coffee pods and tea bags in the green bin, garbage / non-recyclables in the round black bin). Plastic bags and coffee cups go in the garbage; they are NOT recycled in any of the cans. Thank you!
