The large dining room includes a 10’ oak table and the living room has an ornamental fireplace and leather furniture. The house is decorated with antique furnishings. A large pantry offers extra storage space. Perfect for large families who want a place to stay together. Plenty of parking too. The space This beautiful old house was built in 1911 and originally located within Highland Park, an arboretum located a few blocks away and designed by renowned landscape designer Frederick Law Olmsted. In 1982, the house was slated for demolition to make room for a parking lot. It was moved instead, preserving it with all its lovely details. The house has recently undergone an interior restoration with an update to the kitchen and bathrooms. The owners are avid preservationists who have made every effort to preserve the original charm of the House by restoring the woodwork and stained and leaded glass windows. The antique furnishings complement the spaces and the comfortable living room furniture makes the house livable for today’s families. There are no bedrooms on the first floor. There are four bedrooms on the second floor. The third floor bunk room has 3 twin beds, and is perfect for kids to hang out and watch movies or play games. There is a large Roku tv on the third floor. We now have a pack-and-play playpen/crib on the third floor. We have a stroller and a booster seat in the house as well. There is a half bath on the first floor and a full bath on the second floor. The full bath features a walk-in shower with rain shower head and hand shower. We provide shampoo, body wash and a hair dryer. We provide luxury bath towels and wash cloths. The kitchen and pantry are well-stocked with pots, pans, baking dishes, a crock pot, blender, mixer, roasting pans, cookie sheets, salad spinner. There is a coffee maker and also a French press. We provide ground coffee and filters. Each bedroom on the second floor features white ultrasoft microfiber sheets, premium pillows, and down-alternative comforters. Each bedroom has a clock/radio and a television with digital antenna. There is an extra blanket in each room, and a window fan. From Memorial Day through the end of October there are window air conditioners installed in each bedroom and in the third floor bunkroom. There is a spacious front porch, a great place to gather and have coffee. The exterior of the house is undergoing renovation. We are not accepting bookings from guests without 2 or more favorable reviews from other hosts and a complete user profile including government certified identification and details about you. Guest access Guests have access to the entire house except a storage room in the basement. Laundry room is available for guest's use with advance notice. The adjacent driveway to the left of the house is for guests to use. Overflow parking in the parking lot of Historic Houseparts is also available for guests. Other things to note The owners of the house also own the adjacent businesses, Historic Houseparts and The Period Bath Supply Company. The parking lots for these businesses are available for overflow parking for guests. The furnishings, decor, and bath products provided in the house are from their businesses so many of the pieces are for sale. The bath products are all available at Historic Houseparts.
