The space This 1918 cottage sits atop a 50-foot ridge overlooking the river. I use it as my own get-away from a busy job in Minneapolis and want to share it with others who are seeking a respite and change of pace. I've furnished it with some of my favorite antiques, artwork and family treasures, including a dining room table my great grandmother bought in 1901. The cottage is located in a friendly, rural community and is close to high-quality restaurants, pottery studios and one of Wisconsin's famed supper clubs. It's rural but not remote. Great for families with children 16 and older, friends and couples comfortable sharing cozy quarters. Solo travelers welcome. Fall/winter travelers please note: The upstairs attic loft bedroom does not have a heat register, so be aware of that if you will need both bedrooms. Rising heat and extra blankets make it cozy, but it can get chilly. Space heaters aren't allowed for safety reasons. In summer, both bedrooms have window air conditioning units. Ceiling fans, the river breeze and leafy trees usually keep the cottage quite comfortable. This stretch of the Apple River is 20 miles upstream from busy and popular tubing/floating excursions in Somerset. Public access to boat, fish, kayak on the river is nearby. For those looking for big lake recreation, the 1,200-acre Lake Wapogasset is 10 minutes away for boaters and anglers. There's room on the property to park a boat and trailer. We adhere to strict cleaning and disinfecting protocols established by the Centers for Disease Control, Polk County Health Department and Airbnb. Guest access You will have complete access to the cottage and outbuildings. Other things to note LICENSES and ORDINANCES All licenses are current through Polk County and the State of Wisconsin. (Land Use Permit # 49615. Health Dept. Public Facility Permit ID #76856). The license does not permit tent camping or firewood to be brought in from outside the area. Maximum of six people are allowed on the property, based on the septic system. All guests must agree to abide by these restrictions.
