Home in Lake Isabella
Description
Welcome to our special sprawling Mexican style Hacienda home! Our home was designed by my grandmother who dreamed up this house for her retirement. This home is located on a large property with pine tree forest in the middle of the desert. Out front you feel like you are in the woods, but in the enclosed back yard you feel like you could be in Mexico. - Cal King, Queen & 2 Twins - Central Heat - Evaporative Cooler (AC) - SmartTV - Designated Work Space - Open Layout Design The space An Oasis in the upper desert, our property, Stoney Pines, is a small pine tree forest surrounded by typical desert landscape. We have been lucky because these trees provide an great forest feel, while still being close to town. The Hacienda is a sprawling 1700 sqft, single story home with a large master suite, guest room, formal dining room, living room with SmartTV, full kitchen and foyer/sitting room with space to spare. As a family who cooks a lot, we have a fully stocked kitchen from pots and pans to toasters, mixers and a small Cuisinart. We also typically have cooking spices, oil, sugar and flour, but do not guarantee these items as some guests clear out our pantry while other like to add. The stove is a gas stove that uses propane, so the burners get HOT. The guest bedroom has a large closet and a dresser with 3 drawers. The guest bathroom has a good-sized shower with tiled seat and this bathroom is where our washer and dryer are located. Just down the hall is our Foyer where you will find our designated work area and the entrance to our fenced in backyard. After passing through the French doors outside you will see a large covered patio, flower beds and two grassy areas where pets and kids can play. In the backyard you will also find a BBQ for your use. We do not provide Charcoal or Lighter fluid, but we do have BBQ tools in the house and a BBQ cart for your use. In the back of the Hacienda is a large Master Suite. This suite alone is about 700 sqft and has 2 sleeping areas, a large shower, a small toilet room, a pedestal sink with medicine cabinet, a small chaise lounge and a walk-in closet. In this room you will find a Cal King bed with 2 bedside tables and a Queen bed with one bedside table. There is also a large dresser with 9 drawers located in front of the Cal King bed. This house uses evaporative cooling (Swamp Cooler) as Air Conditioning. This type of cooling is very common in desert communities as it both cools and humidifies the air in the house. During the winter months this house also has central heating and a fire place for your use. Guest access Guests will have access to the entire property except the pump houses and our shed. The neighborhood is all dirt roads, but pretty easy to traverse. You will need a car to get around town as this is a rural area and there is no public transportation by the property. Other things to note This house is cooled using an Evaporative Cooler, Swamp Cooler. These types of AC units are common in desert communities as they are the most efficient coolers for the environment. They typically keep the inside of the house between 20 - 30 degrees cooler than the outside temperatures and add humidity in a typically very dry environment. This is a pet friendly property and we ask that you please pick up after your pets and please be respectful of other guests by having your pet on a leash if there are other guests present. There is also a pet fee of $80 per stay. Due to our pine tree forest sap is a concern. Should you decide to walk around and enjoy the property, please look at your shoes before entering the houses. Should you get sap on yourself or your pet an effective way to get it off is using olive oil. It is very rare, but on occasion the power can go out at this property. As this is a rural area sometimes the power company turns off the power for safety reasons or for updating their equipment. We do our best to keep guests updated on these situations, but we also ask for your understanding while we work through any issues if they come up. We ask that you do not put tents up on the property without asking beforehand. If you move any furniture during your stay, please put it back where you found it. If furniture has been moved and not put back, you may be charged with a fee. There is a large BBQ area that is a shared space between our Green and Red Cabin. We ask that you be courteous to other guests and not leave a mess nor be to loud. Should you use any games in the back yard, croquet or cornhole, please put it away before departing. Due to the fact that this property is in the upper desert, we have automatic sprinklers that go on once a day in winter and up to 3 times a day during summer. We ask that you do not turn these sprinklers off. On this property is a spa that is currently not operational. We ask that no guests get into this spa as it is not regularly cleaned nor filtered. While this spa does not have a fence, there is a lid on it to keep children and pets safe from falling in. Although close to town, this property is in a rural area so on occasion small bugs do get in the houses. We make a concerted effort to keep all critters out of the houses, by spraying and having each house checked before check in, but on occasion some critters make their way in. While this area is close to town, it is still a little rural, which means we do get the occasional wildlife. There have been sightings of coyotes and bears, so if you are moving around at night just be aware of your surroundings. I am shocked that I have to include this, but please do not damage any of our pine tree forest. Should damage be found please report immediately. If it is found that you have damaged one of our trees (example: hit, shot, peeled bark or an attempted cut or chop) you will be charged a minimum of $300 for the damage.
