This will be a rustic get-away but a very quiet and peaceful stay. The Roost, located in Norman Rockwell country, is 45 mins from Saratoga/ Racing season; The best butcher and small grocery store (Yushak’s) is 7 mins away in Shushan; Manchester, VT is just 20 min North with ORVIS and great shopping options. Trout fishing is just 50 yds out the back door of the Roost! Best fishing is early or late - when all the tubers/canoes & kayakers are off the river. Pets welcome. NO heat, wifi or A/C! There is a fire pit to enjoy cookouts, s’mores or both. A woods to explore and a trail along the Battenkill to walk. A good place to take a dip in the river, too. Nearby white water companies to rent kayaks, canoes or tubes from for a day on the river putting in along 313 towards Arlington. You will have the Roost to yourself during your stay. The only “shared” space may be the fire pit if I have campers tenting for the night. That has not happened yet but it is a slight possibility that I want you to be aware of. I may or may not be available during your stay. You will be made aware of my plans. No other homes can be seen from the Roost. It is set back off the road so very private. You will need your own transportation. Closest grocery store is just over 3 miles away. Shopping area (Manchester,VT) & ORVIS are 20-25 mins away. There is an outhouse if you prefer that over the composting toilet that is off the dining/kitchen/bedroom. One double bed is in the ‘dormitory’ along with 2 single beds and a futon. The other double bed is in the dining/kitchen area. Upon departure, it would be most helpful if you would strip your beds and put sheets in a pillow case. Also add any used towels/dish cloths etc that you used that would need to be washed. Please remove your trash.
