Coast Inn at Lake Hood, is a short walk away to watch float planes take on and off from one of the busiest seaplane bases in the world. In the winter the frozen lake serves as a frozen runway for planes with skis. Befitting to its location the hotel is decorated in Alaska Bush Pilot memorabilia and historic photography that the Alaska Aviation Museum next door shares with them.
