Peaceful Mountain Cottage Above Private Meadow

Great for skiers and writers alike. Nestled within a mountaintop meadow, through a covered bridge & above a small Vermont village, our peaceful cottage is a destination and provides brilliant fall foliage and Vermont's natural beauty. We feel the oxygen and restorative negative ions here on the land from the lush mountain woods; true shinrin-yoku ('forest bathing'). Skiing, hiking, biking, gourmet restaurants, live music, cafés, coffee shops, & health/international market & co-ops exist nearby. The space After passing through an historical and sweet covered bridge and a mile journey up a small mountainous road, you will reach our cottage. The energy around our cottage is calm and soothing. The mountain forest wraps around the cottage and is a perfect place to experience and pursue the healing and relaxing recreation of shinrin yoku (or “forest bathing”). Shinrin yoku was developed in Japan where it is considered a cornerstone of preventative medicine and healing. When you step outside the cottage doors you will want to immerse yourself in the smell of pine and its healing a-pinene and limonene while breathing in the freshest air, which is evidenced by the manifest abundance of lichen on surrounding trees; lichen is a key bio-indicator of superior air quality and oxygen. The living room windows and the sliding glass doors of the living room and bedroom both open onto the deck, which rests above the forested meadow. You feel as if you're outside while inside, as the four tall living room windows and sliding glass doors all reflect the completely private, lush green land and woods. The cottage is made of one bedroom, one bathroom with a shower, a front room with desk, washer and dryer, and an open concept living room and kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking. Guest access The cottage is separate from the main house we live in, and the meadow below the cottage will be exclusively yours during your stay, as will all land surrounding the cottage. Please note, our home is just above the cottage on the same land, as you can see in some of the photos. The meadow is great for birdwatching and simply listening to their mellifluous and multifarious simultaneous song. Wild turkeys and deer often make their way through the meadow as well. You are also welcome to explore the land in all directions. Other things to note Please note: Our cottage is one mile up a well-maintained but unpaved mountainous road. Please consider this when booking. If booking here for winter months (November through February, and an occasional day in March) we highly advise that your car have AWD/4WD. Mud season (March) also can make the road ruddy and harder to travel. Again, we recommend AWD/4WD for guests during this time. IMPORTANT * * During these times of respiratory viruses and Covid-19, health is of paramount importance to us; you must agree to the following rules to stay in our cottage: 1). We enjoy interacting with all of our guests, but due to Covid, as we are both seniors, we would prefer not to have physical interaction with us, as hosts, during your stay -- instead, contact us through Airbnb. We love offering help and information to meet your needs. Of course, if needed, we are able to assist you with something in person, however. 2). Please notify us if you are experiencing any symptoms, both before your arrival and before your departure. This is so we can take extra precautions when entering the cottage to clean after you leave. 2). If the weather is fair, please leave a window open prior to your departure (of course, not if is freezing or if the rain is pouring down) - - - We love the state of Vermont and hope you will, too.
