Mother's Mountain House: The Suite.
Mountain home located 4.5 miles up a dirt road on Robert Frost Mountain in Green Mountain National Forest. Rikert Nordic Ski Center and Middlebury Snow Bowl in town. Hand hewn beamed ceilings on first floor and 4 wood burning fireplaces, 2 on each floor including one in the guest suite. Keyed lock on door. No cell service. Use of house phone at no extra charge for domestic calls. Wifi available. Bedroom has heat pump regulated by guest for heating and cooling. This home has its roots as the first B&B on Robert Frost Mountain. It wasn't built as a B & B, but evolved into one, to accommodate leaf peepers and other folks who wanted to stay in the mountains just outside Middlebury. The home is located about 4 miles up a small mountain on a dirt road. There is no cell service up here, but you are welcome to use the landline to call anywhere in the US. Wifi is excellent! The space consists of a very large bedroom with king bed, sitting area with couch, and comfy chair and wood burning fireplace. Attached to the bedroom is a study with two desks. There is ample drawer and closet space. The bathroom with two sinks and shower/ tub/ jacuzzi is in the hallway a couple steps away, and is shared. Common spaces include the kitchen and living room. You will have access to the entire house and are welcome to cook in the kitchen. I do also live in the home. Depending on when you arrive, there may be other guests in the home as well. I am available to help you plan your stay and arrange excursions or reservations. I am available as needed and will always respect your privacy. The home is located in Green Mountain National Forest in Ripton, VT. The local hotspot is nature! Hiking, biking, snowshoeing, nordic and alpine skiing are literally steps away. Snow Bowl and Rikert Ski Center are 15 minutes away. Breadloaf Campus is 10 minutes away. The Ripton General Store is a must see bit of old time Ripton charm! Another great place for dinner is the nearby Waybury Inn and the towns of Middlebury, Bristol, Brandon, and Vergennes have their share of interesting shops and restaurants. Burlington is 45 miles away. Because we are in the mountains, a car is needed to get around. The home about 4 miles up a dirt road. The road is typically very well maintained. It is about a 20-30 minute drive to Middlebury College and Porter Hospital. It is about 10 minute drive to the Breadloaf campus.
