Art-filled House on Historic Farm at Clinton Lake
Description
Situated on 12 acres at the end of the peninsula on Clinton Lake, our home offers loads of natural light, a large kitchen and living room for family meals, and cozy bedrooms for great sleeping. Less than a 1/4 mile from water, this a perfect place to spot deer, foxes, eagles and more, hear owls and coyotes, plus enjoy activities: swimming beach, sand volleyball, a historic museum, boat ramps, and a brand-new frisbee golf course. Kayaks and a canoe are provided for guests to enjoy. Stay with us! The space Our home was built in the 1880s and the property was a working dairy farm for several generations. As a result, the property has a large dairy barn, grain silo, chicken house, and several other outbuildings. We enjoy maintaining all of these structures and the acreage. There are many mowed paths for walking and biking, a pond to explore, and adventures to be had. Because we are close to the lake, we have 2 kayaks and a canoe available for guests to use (we provide kayaks, paddles, and life jackets - guests must use their own vehicle to get the boats to the lake). We have a cheerful Blue Heeler who will greet you upon arrival. Guest access We are located 30 minutes from Lawrence. Out here you can access peace, quite, and space. For those who want to relax, and maybe read or enjoy a beverage, our property has many areas for relaxation. For the more adventurous types, we have kayaks, a canoe, bikes, and more. We provide kayaks, paddles, and life jackets - guests must use their own vehicle to get the boats to the lake. If you’re interested in using these, just let us know. We will ensure that the bikes have air in the tires and that the boating equipment is at the ready. During the summer, there is a historic general store just down the road that provides ice cream, sodas, and candy bars to folks coming to enjoy the lake. They recently started serving dinner on Friday and Saturday nights and breakfast weekend mornings. Loren, the owner and chef, cooks his grandma’s recipes - home cooking at its best!! There is also a small museum near the lake that commemorates the history of the area. During the winter, there is tranquility and woods in which to connect with nature. One of our favorite recreations is walking the woods and shores of the lake when the peninsula is nearly deserted. All of the above can be enjoyed in the spring and fall. Other things to note Register accurately for the number of guests staying. If the number changes, update your reservation BEFORE your stay begins. If the number of guests changes the day of your stay or after your stay has begun, you will be charged for the extra guests and you will be charged an additional $100. Airbnb makes it very difficult to change reservations once they start requiring lots of effort for us as your host. You will be immersed in nature out here, bring your play clothes and shoes for maximum enjoyment!
