Convenient to I-95, the Cottage at Walnut Shade provides fully furnished privacy and a chance to escape among the farm fields and history of Hanover county. Whether you’re a biker, hiker, history nut, beer fanatic, theatre lover or just want a place to call your own for the weekend, you may be surprised to find it all in the town of Ashland and surrounding Hanover county. *Internet is now available* The space Newly renovated kitchen and bathroom! The Cottage is surrounded by farm fields and forests, giving you complete privacy from the hustle and bustle of life. You can drive a few minutes to Hanover Courthouse and Tavern for history, food and entertainment, or use the map provided to hike or bike the backroads to Patrick Henry’s old stomping grounds if you’re feeling adventurous. 15 miles north of Richmond on I-95, and ten minutes from the Town of Ashland, more delicious food and entertainment are nearby. Guest access You are welcome to explore the woods and fields on the property, and a map outlining property lines will be provided. No hunting or any alteration of the grounds is allowed. Please do remember that you are in the country - so check yourself for ticks, watch for snakes and enjoy the stars (that being said, it can get dark so bring a flashlight if you go on an evening walk!). The owners live just down the road, and will be available if you need anything. Other things to note The Cottage is stocked with linens, towels, a pack n play, and some coffee and tea for your morning routine. Other groceries can be found at the small market in Hanover or at larger stores in Ashland. You’re welcome to bring bicycles for exploring, but please remember country roads can be dangerous and to always wear a helmet. No motor vehicles are allowed off road.
