Welcome to our family's Swiss style chalet! Inspired by trips to Davos, Switzerland, our grandfather built the chalet in the 1950s to be a family playhouse and gathering spot for his 6 children. It's magic. Today, our large extended family still enjoys holiday celebrations here every year. Our kids love exploring the woodland trails and swimming in Center Pond. We hope you love it as much as we do! Note: the building has two apartments on the first floor The Chalet has been converted into 3 apartments. The AirBnB space comprises the entire second story. It's one large open-concept room that offers spectacular natural light and a 20 ft. high ceiling with tremendous beams. We’ve created two sleeping areas; 1 queen bed and 2 twins. A queen size futon is also available for sleeping more quests, easily accommodating 6 total guests. You will enjoy a full kitchen, large dining table, and wrap around deck with café table seating. A full bathroom with tub and upgraded towels and toiletries. We offer low-tox and scent free items. There are two apartments on the first floor. One of the apartments has small children. You will definitely hear them. The AirBnb space is the entire upstairs. Please be aware that, to some degree, you will hear and be heard by the other occupants of the building. We ask that everyone is respectful particularly with respect to noise. ***Guests must follow all local Covid19 guidelines.*** Guests have access to a private 1600 square foot living space equipped with a kitchen, a living room, and two bedroom areas. There is a full bathroom with linens and travel size toiletries. Wifi is provided. Enjoy the grill for your use on the balcony. There is a path to the pond and a canoe you may use. We will provide you with coffee, tea, milk, and welcome treat! You will enter the space via a set of outside stairs. If you have mobility challenges, please reach out to us so we can give you more specific details. We live about 45 minutes away in Brattleboro VT. We can be reached through AirBnB or by phone if there is something you need help with. We also have people in town who we can send to help in case of a problem. Nelson is a quiet, sweet little town with lots of dirt roads to walk and a friendly, welcoming community. It will fulfill all of your New England dreams! There is a beautiful church across from the community mailboxes at the center common. If a game of frisbee or volleyball is happening, folks will probably be happy to have you join. There is a gorgeous friendly library, and not to be missed the longest running contra dance in New England, held every Monday night at the town hall. Nelson is near to a number of NH gems: Mt. Monadnock, Center Pond, Granite and Silver Lake, the Harrisville Store, also Keene and Peterborough for arts and dining. There are lots of lovely dirt roads and trails to hike and bike, please ask us, we will be happy to suggest some. Nelson is rural. There isn’t a lot for public transportation. Let us know what you may need and we’ll see if we can recommend something. A few things to note before booking: During the month of July, a summer program for kids ages 8-12 is held daily in the barn on the property from 8am-4pm on Weekdays. Expect to hear songs and laughter! The property is on Center Pond, accessible by a rustic woods path or by the public access which is less than 5 minutes by car or a short walk away. Cell phone service is spotty. Some mobile phones work at the Chalet, others just won't.
