The stairs scueecs, and the floor can be a bit cold in the winter, but all is forgotten when you fire up the fireplace. The island is perfect for hiking, biking and kajaking. Check in after 4 p.m, check out before 12 a.m. Transportation to or from the boat can be arranged. We wish you a peaceful stay. The space An old house with a nostalgic feel! Gammelstua is a house built in the 19th century, which was originally part of a house that stood at the top of Storsæter. It was moved here to the farm and built in the mid-1800s. After we took over the house, we have renovated the bathroom and kitchen, and other rooms are next in line. The house is cozy and charming, but somewhat cold on the floor and draughty in winter. Guests who come to us have free access to wood and can fire up the stove in the living room. We also heat up before you arrive if it's cold outside. Check-in after 4 pm, check-out before 12 pm due to strict cleaning routines. The kitchen is equipped with what you need, except for a microwave. The kitchen is about 10 m2 and has a cozy kitchen table and 4 chairs. The living room is about 20 m2 and is furnished with a stylish sofa with 2 associated chairs, dining table with 4 chairs, 1 good, old rocking chair and 1 small armchair. On the 2nd floor are all the bedrooms, here it is somewhat lower under the roof than on the 1st floor, so the tallest must probably bend their necks a little. Outside you can sit on the benches on the stairs, or the cozy garden bench and look at the chickens and the mountains. There is a beautiful view of the mountains, but even though it is a short way to the sea, there is no sea view. Storsæter Gård has most likely been inhabited since the Viking Age and possibly earlier. Legend has it that a woman named Valborg was banished from her home and settled at Valborghelleren near the farm (we can show you the way if you want to see Valborghelleren), in King Sigar's time (the Viking Age). There she lived with her cat, Kvit-Siri, who among other things caught grouse for her in the winter. After she helped Hagbart dress up as a woman in order to sneak in to his beloved Signe, daughter of King Sigar, she fell out of favor with King Sigar when this was discovered. It is believed that she died near Valborghellern, in connection with a thunderstorm. Today, Filip and Julie live and run the farm together with their 4 children. Here we run a sheep farm, in addition to the farm shop Det Sorte Får, which is located in the former silo, a slightly different farm shop. We built a new timber barn that was completed in the summer of 2017, in order to gather our sheep under one roof. We love it here! It is rural and undisturbed, without close neighbors, in addition to being a short distance to the store (about 6 km) and everything that Engeløya and Steigen have to offer. Here you can take a dip in the West Fjord on the beautiful Bøsanden, fish from the low bridge or rent a boat, kayak or bike, or go hiking in the spectacular mountains! Guest access You have access to the whole Gammelstua which consists of 2 floors with a floor area of about 60 m2. The house was moved here in the late 19th century, where it really is old we have not found answers to. The bathroom and kitchen have been renovated. We do not want you to enter farm buildings on the farm without having cleared this with us first, so that we can explain precautionary rules, handling of animals, infection control, etc. If you have been abroad, you must wait 48 hours before being in contact with our animals, these are rules set by the Norwegian Food Safety Authority. Due to strict cleaning routines, check-in is after 4 pm and check-out is before 12 pm. Other things to note Please ask us if there is anything you are wondering about or if there is anything you need, we will help you as much as we can. We want our guests to have a relaxing and amazing stay, and to come back.
