A memorable stay awaits at this beautiful mountain escape. The WGL offers a 1,740 sq ft PRIVATE access lower apartment on 5 acres featuring stunning views, a relaxing retreat and farm adventures abound. Located along Mossyspring Creek overlooking Paris Mountain, Wandering Goat Lodge is just 5 miles from downtown Blacksburg & VA TECH Campus. The space sleeps 6 and can accommodate more upon request. It's the perfect spot to be "near town" yet embrace nature and the surrounding valley mountains. The space The Wandering Goat Lodge offers close proximity to Blacksburg paired with unique experiences including breathtaking views and the unique opportunity to pet goats, take a private mountain walk or hike the old fire trail to the top of the mountain to watch the sunset and genuinely unwind. We are pet friendly. We encourage farm animal interaction between the fences with the goats and donkeys and offer bags of grain for you to use. Additional "resort-like" experiences can be added to your stay including: in-pen cuddling or feeding interactions, a majestic bonfire set with "unlimited" wood, a day of experiencing farm-chores for the kids, or a host-escorted ATV ride to the top of the ridge. Your LARGE 2-bedroom, fully-furnished PRIVATE ACCESS apartment faces the mountain on the lower level of my home. A key-less entry allows your access from your private parking area. The stair space between the living quarters is secured with multiple locks on both sides and divided with sound-proofing materials and additional privacy panel at the bottom of the stairway. We have not fully blocked this stair because we have future expansion plans we would be happy to share. Watch for the WGL Goat signs to lead you here... Your adventure begins from the minute you turn off the main road and make your approach to the lodge...Cows on the right, goats on the left... take the rustic drive to the lodge, and find a hidden beach tucked along the creek .or take the easy path and find the animals to greet you along the way...it's part of nature's ambience and what makes WGL special. Please note that even though we are rural -- we actually have FIBER OPTIC Internet installed Jan 2021-- the speeds are faster than Blacksburg so downloading movies or working remotely will be no problem. While we ARE pet friendly, there is a $100 pet fee/2 animals with additional charge of $50 for a third charge to cover some extra cleaning needs. We also offer a dog crate in the closet and have an outdoor fenced kennel with dog houses if you need to use it. We embrace "mountain-living" and drive a sedan most days.... except when the weather really gets bad... and for folks who want more rural experience, ask if you can test your 4WD. If the gates are open, we might let you drive up the hollow or through the field --taking you even closer to the goats & our friendly donkeys. Guest access You will have a private entrance with key-pad lock and complete access to the lower level apartment in my home. There are two basement entry/access doors for you to exit the space as you wish. A Parking pad is directly in front of the entrance to the lodge. There are motion sensor lights to help guide you at night. Follow the B&W signs around the driveway until you see the one that says "Parking."
