It's a beautiful, peaceful refuge where you will enjoy a quiet place to slow down and savor life's simple pleasures. Explore the 5 acre grounds and hundreds of forest service acres surrounding you. No traffic noise...just the sound of the birds and the wind in the pines...always. Our few 'neighbors' will only be a twinkling light in the distance. Come sit under the canopy of the Milky Way! You will have access to the entire 1,000 square foot cabin with great outdoor living space on the deck as well as the 5 acre grounds with your own campfire pit, ‘Kids Koup' playhouse , tree swing and gardens. Note: 'The Nest' Loft bedroom with King sized bed is for able-bodied adults ONLY as there is a steep staircase and we don't want children (or elderly guests) getting injured. The cabin is perfect for 2 families with the master ‘Nest'. You can't beat the view of the Hills or the starry night sky from up there! Enjoy some time away from city life and tourist bustle. We are conveniently located 15 minutes from Custer & Wind Cave National Park, 25 minutes from Custer State Park & Crazy Horse, 40 minutes to Mount Rushmore and close to many other attractions! Enjoy hundreds of miles of Forest Service land and trails right out your door! Go four-wheeling, hiking, horseback riding and winter cross-country skiing/snow shoeing. We are a beautiful, 15 minute drive from town. Be aware that you will have 5 miles of gravel road to get to the cabin. Not suitable for fancy sports cars. :-) FWD is recommended if you are visiting in the winter months. The wonderful, 100-mile Mickelsen Trail weaves all through the Black Hills and is just 10 minutes down the road to enjoy hiking or biking. Guest access Enjoy the cozy fireplace, outdoor firepit, large deck and garden. Pay the chickens a visit too! Relax on the deck and still keep an eye on the kids playing. They will love the 'Kids Koup' playhouse, tree swing and giving our miniature horse, Big Red, a treat! He likes carrots and apples. There is plenty of room to play, hike or rest! Note: We have a mountain climate so it always cools down significantly at night. The cabin stays cool during the day without central air.
