An entire third floor apartment of a historic Colonial Revival house in the Friendship neighborhood. Two bedrooms, each with a firm queen memory foam bed, one bathroom with claw foot tub/shower, huge living room with seating area and desk, and a fully equipped kitchen with washer and dryer. Walk up to third floor. A queen air mattress bed or pack n' play can be added to any one of the bedrooms or the living room, just let us know. The space Apartment was once the servant's quarters and the former billiard room. At 1,400 square feet, the space is large with many windows. The wood floor, dark wood and marble mantels and wood chair rails are a contrast to the modern light wood furniture. Views from the third floor include tree tops and roofs of the adjoining houses. Apartment is located on the third floor and accessed through a private entry from the side of the house. It is a third floor walk up and may not be best for those in which stairs are a challenge. Ample street parking in the front and side of the house. We also have a personal electric car charging station on the side of the house. You are welcome to plug in! We can add a third bed (air mattress) in the living room or any of the two bedrooms. We can also put out a pack n' play and highchair if you would like them. The shower and tub is typical old Victorian claw foot tub and may present a challenge for some people; a big leg lift is required to get into the tub. It is not easy for persons with mobility limitations as the shower curtain wraps around the entire tub and there are not any grab bars. It is wonderful for long soaks! Our Friendship neighborhood is centrally located in the east end, next to Shadyside, Bloomfield and East Liberty. Big beautiful houses, lovely trees, birds, bikes, strollers and a playground across the street. One block away on Penn Avenue you will find the best coffee in the city at Commonplace Coffee. Nearby are a plethora of some of the best restaurants and cocktail bars in town. Spork is excellent restaurant around the corner. Close by casual fare includes Primanti's Brothers, St. Clair Social and Friendship Perk & Brew. Within in easy 15 minute walk, Garbarino's, DUO's Taqueria, Margaux, Two Sister's Vietnamese, Square Cafe, Muddy Waters, Paris 66, Casbah, Mad Mex, and many others. Apteka, a vegan polish restaurant, is about a mile walk, is quite amazing, and even the carnivorous will enjoy this James Beard nominated fare. Whole Foods and a great Wine and Spirit shop are three blocks away. Walnut Street, a neighborhood business district with the Apple Store, Gap, Banana Republic, Patagonia, Athleta, Lululemon, and others, is less than one mile away. A longer walk (or short drive away) you'll find Trader Joe's and Target. There are two Aldi grocery store within 3 blocks and a Market District Giant Eagle. In Pennsylvania to buy beer, you can go to a beer distributor or to a bar for take out bottles or growlers. Pistella's Beer is two blocks away, A drive away is Eastend Brewery and many others breweries all over the City. To buy wine or liquor, Whole Foods, the Market District or PA Wine and Liquor store. Direct public bus service to downtown and the Universities is a block or two away. University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon bus shuttle stops are down the street. There is a also a bike share program in the City, with bikes at the end of the street, you can ride and explore anywhere. Guest access Apartment is accessed through a private entry and third floor stair at the side of the house. It is a private three-story walk-up. There is a small landing at the entry level to store your strollers, walking sticks or foldable scooters. Ample free street parking in the front and side of the house. We have a Level 2 electric car charger, if you want to charge your car! Neighborhood is full of big Victorian houses, lovely trees, birds, bikes and strollers. There is a nice playground across the street. We also have small chairs and tables for our young guests.
