Description
Enjoy sunsets from the deck up at the house or lakeside. Lounge on the waterfront under the stars, toasting marshmallows in the fire pit and telling a tall tale or two. Strolling along the road by the lake is lovely in either direction. For a nice little hike, take the road south into the woods along the trail going south towards the Power Plant. When you reach a wide clearing where there is an outlet for a stream, make a left and follow the path alongside. Look for the waterfalls! The space Charming waterfront cottage on the east side of Lake Cayuga. Amazing sunsets! Comfortably sleeps 3 couples & a single, or 2 couples & 4 children. ROKU TV's, classic video games, lots of movies, Direct TV at peak season. 25 mins from Ithaca, 10-15 mins to Aurora. Cottage Atwater is “Paradise on Lake Cayuga" and features the most amazing sunsets, a great place to get away from it all, to be surrounded by the beauty of nature and, yet, have access to all the amenities of civilization. LOCATION: Just 25 minutes from Ithaca and 9 minutes from Aurora, it's close enough to Cornell, Ithaca College and Wells College for special events. Celebrate later in a glorious location. WATERFRONT: At the waterfront, there is a dock and a mooring for your boat, as well as an area on the dock especially for your Kayak or canoe. Relax on comfortable chairs and roast marshmallow under the stars in the fire pit. The boat shed holds rafts and “noodles" for play in the lake. HOUSE: Up at the house, on the deck, there are chaise lounges, tables, chairs and umbrellas for enjoyment of the grand view outside during the warmer months. The propane-powered barbecue grill is in the back just outside the kitchen door. OFF-SEASON RENTALS: Winter rentals are lovely, too! Due to its location, it may be snowing heavily up the hill but down by the lake, the setting sun warms the land and there is little accumulation. The kitchen is equipped with a brand new electric oven and refrigerator, a microwave and fully stocked with kitchen utensils, pots and pans. PARKING: There's plenty of parking, up at the house and down the driveway on the waterfront road. The driveway is a bit steep, so 4WD or AWD is strongly suggested. TV, WIFI & FULL LIBRARY OF DVDs & OLD SCHOOL VHS TAPES: The house features a comfortably furnished Living Room/Dining Room area with a High Definition TV, a DVD player and, yes, a working VHS machine. Direct TV and Wi-fi is available and there is an extensive library of DVDs and classic VHS tapes for your enjoyment. OLD SCHOOL VIDEO GAME SYSTEMS: The central area of the loft space has a futon couch and a TV equipped with a DVD player, VHS machine and a large collection of ‘old school' video game systems and games. This is a great area for the kids, big and small, to hang out. LINENS, TOWELS & HOUSECLEANING: We provide linens and towels, clean and fresh for your arrival and the housecleaning is on us at the end of your stay. SLEEPING ACCOMODATIONS: On the first floor, the Master Bedroom features a spectacular view of the lake. There is also a single bedroom with a twin bed and a recliner. This makes it nice for a Senior to kick back and get their feet up in their own quiet space. The bathroom is centrally located nearby, as well. Upstairs, in the sleeping loft, on the south side, there is a queen-size bed and a futon chaise, separated by half wall and a Victorian screen. On the other end, there is a high-riser that transforms into a King-size bed, and another Twin bed. DRAWING OF FLOOR PLAN: For your convenience, a layout of the floor plan is included in the photos. Guests will have access to the entire house, the waterfront, the boat shed and the garage for your bicycles. Did I mention that this is a fantastic place to go biking? And through Wine Country, no less! The boat lift is not available during the summer months as we use it for our own boat. GETTING IN TOUCH WITH US: Although we, the owners, are not usually in the area at the time of your rental, we do have local assistants who will make themselves available to you in the event of a problem. Their phone numbers and ours are in the Information Booklet provided in the cottage. Any questions? We are best reached immediately by text message or phone call. FIRE LANE 1 SPEED LIMIT - 10 - 15 MPH PLEASE! We are located on a lovely waterfront road that, long ago, used to be a train track running alongside Lake Cayuga. Now a quiet haven of vacation and permanent homes, the junction of the road leading down the hill from the main road was once a bustling trade center, complete with a Post Office, a ferry and a train station. The neighborhood asks that you please observe the 10-15 mph speed limit along the road as many homes have small children and older people crossing to the waterfront. To the south of our house is a permanent residence. A tall hedge between both driveways separates our properties. To the north and the east is undeveloped so, overall, there is a great sense of privacy and solitude. This is a wonderful place to relax, to catch up on your reading, to write the Great American novel, to get out on the lake, go biking and enjoy the fresh air – the possibilities are endless. TRANSPORTATION: There is no public transportation to and from Cottage Atwater so a vehicle is necessary. As mentioned, the driveway is very steep in one spot especially so 4WD or AWD is preferred. Within Ithaca itself, there is what they call the TCAT or Tomkins Consolidated Area Transit. Public Transportation by bus from the NY Metropolitan Area is provided by Coach USA via the ShortLine Bus. There are 4 airports within 50 miles of King Ferry. Their proximities, closest to furthest, are as follows; Tomkins County Airport, Syracuse Hancock Airport, Binghamton Regional Airport and Elmira/Corning Regional Airport. Transportation to and from these airports is most likely best handled by securing rental cars there. AIR CONDITIONING: There are window air conditioners in the Dining Room and the Master Bedroom. One can be made available for the small bedroom, although due to it's location on the floor plan, that room always seems to stay cool, even on the hottest days. FANS: Fans are provided throughout the house. WATER: The water comes from the lake. Although it runs through a filtered system prior to reaching the tap, we do not drink it. Prior to your arrival, the house will be stocked with a case of 20 oz. bottles, as well as 9 one gallon jugs to use for drinking, cooking and brushing teeth. We suggest you pick up a few additional gallons depending on how long you are staying and how many are in your group. INFORMATION BOOKLET: An Information Booklet is also provided here online and on the premises with all the rules and nuances of the house. Someone is always available to answer any questions you may have during your stay – text messaging being the best way to get immediate attention. Brochures, maps and pamphlets are kept in the Living Room area for your reference, as well. Guest access Access to the entire house. Other things to note Please note that the water in the sinks and shower comes from the lake. It is fine for washing dishes and bathing but not for drinking or cooking. As a result, we are happy provide you with the first 9 gallons of drinking water and a case of bottled water.
