Located blocks from downtown Bridgman and about 1.5 miles thru downtown Bridgman to Weko Beach and the sandy beaches of Lake Michigan as well as a few miles from Warren Dunes State Park—-and all the local wineries and breweries. WiFi is shared with the adjacent house, and the signal has proven to be good by past guests. One bedroom, one bathroom COTTAGE with a LOFT--with a QUEEN size bed in the loft. The cottage is located in the town of Bridgman, MI--about 85 miles from Chicago! Only about 1.5 miles from Lake Michigan--it's a stroll down Lake Street in Bridgman, but a nice one! The lake can be enjoyed year round, but swimming in the lake is really only feasible June thru August. The cottage has a color TV—with NO cable. YOU MAY CONTACT COMCAST IF YOU WISH TO ADD CABLE (as a long term guest) or try youtube tv or the like. WiFi is shared with the adjacent house which has proven to be an adequate signal by past guests. Full size bed in the bedroom and a washer/dryer off the bathroom. Plenty of sheets, towels, blankets, etc for your stay. In the loft, there is a queen size bed with sheets and blankets for that bed as well. An industrial type ladder/staircase leads to the loft. Deck off the sliding glass door that leads to the large back yard. Central heat and air conditioning, too! If you don't know Southwest Michigan, the area serves as an easy getaway for a lot of Chicagoans who have summer/vacation homes. Check out the wineries, breweries, bike trails, restaurants, galleries and a whole lot more that Southwest Michigan has to offer. Bridgman is 15 miles from New Buffalo and the Four Winds Casino, 10 miles from St. Joseph/Benton Harbor, and very convenient to Stevensville, Sawyer, Harbert, Baroda, Union Pier, Buchanan, Three Oaks, and all the quaint Michigan towns that 10,000s of visitors go enjoy all year long! My favorites in Bridgman is Transient Artisan Ales (dog friendly!), Haymarket Taproom and Emma Hearth and Market—-the last two are also dog friendly outdoors in warmer weather. You’ll also find Tapistry Brewery in downtown Bridgman or Greenbush Brewery in downtown Sawyer to be worthy stops. Tabor Hill Winery is located in the country between Bridgman and Baroda--and is set in a beautiful location with a restaurant that is open year-round! Walk up the street to D'Agostino's and the Navajo Lounge---busy almost every night of the week or the “Cubby Bear” Bar—-sort of a dive bar with decent bar food. A lunch and dinner place called LAKE STREET EATS is located downtown Bridgman. A great pizza and sandwich place is Emma—located at the corner of Red Arrow Highway and Lake Street. If you’re looking for a nice dinner, I recommend Susan’s in Sawyer (also with a dog friendly patio!) as the nicest, most hip restaurant in the area with the best chef in the area. A couple other good spots for a nice dinner are Terrace Room and Bentwood Tavern in New Buffalo and Houndstooth in Benton Harbor. If you’re willing to drive further, let me know as there are other restaurants further away—like drives to South Haven (40ish miles), Fennville (50ish miles), Saugatuck (55 miles), Kalamazoo (60ish miles), or Grand Rapids (100ish miles). And, of course, the most visited tourist attraction is LAKE MICHIGAN---which is walking distance from the house--albeit it's about 1.5 miles....walk west along Lake Street from the house, and Lake Street ultimately ends at Lake Michigan! Bridgman has a beautiful sandy beach called WEKO Beach, and a beach house is also located at the beach. Each night in the summer at sundown, taps is played LIVE! There's a convenient grocery store in town called HARDING's and a RITE AID drug store next to the Harding's. If you need a larger grocery store, there's a Meijer and Aldi in Stevensville--at Exit 22, or just go north on Red Arrow Highway about six miles until you see the Aldi on the left and the Meijer on the right. If you're looking for more sleeping space, you can consider renting my other house in Bridgman which shares a driveway with this cottage--I call the other house a 'ranch', and it can provide another sleeping area for you and your guests if you're traveling with more people, or you may want to look into it if you want two bedrooms instead of just the one bedroom that this cottage provides. The house IS pet-friendly, though no animal lives there full-time. THERE IS A PET FEE—-though Airbnb doesn’t provide a way to charge a daily fee so you will be separately invoiced for the pet fee prior to your stay thru Airbnb’s invoicing system. YOU MUST PROVIDE ME THE BREED, AGE and WEIGHT OF ANY PET or PETS YOU ARE BRINGING TO THE HOUSE FOR ME TO CONSIDER WHETHER THE PET WILL BE ALLOWED. No dogs over 80 pounds are allowed, and no more than two dogs are allowed. Any pet under 50 pounds is $20/night/pet; and any pet over 50 pounds is $30/night/pet. If you area monthly guest, there is a monthly fee for your pet. The pet fee must be paid prior to your arrival for your stay. The whole cottage and the surrounding large back yard is yours to enjoy! Generally, I meet guests when they arrive, but am accessible by email, phone or text during your stay. Sometimes I’m staying in Bridgman—and sometimes at the house opposite the driveway from this house. I am also an UberXL and LyftXL driver if you want to plan to go somewhere and need to figure out how you’re going to get there and/or back! If you are interested in doing a wine and/or beer tour, let me know, and I can tell you how that would work with me as your Uber/Lyft driver. I can even plan the wine and/or beer tour for you, if you want me to! Residential neighborhood and an easy walk to downtown Bridgman where you'll find Transient Artistan Ales, Tapistry Brewery, Lake Street Eats, some antique shops as well as a dog self-bathing spot. Walk the other direction, and go to Haymarket Tap Room—just cross the railroad tracks, and turn left on the driveway to get to Haymarket from ‘the back way’; otherwise, Haymarket fronts on Red Arrow Highway. You MAY be able to get an Uber or Lyft, but it may take awhile, and if you do get one, it may take awhile for them to get to you! When I’m in Bridgman, I also drive for both UberXL and LyftX:—-and you can let me know a couple hours before you need to go somewhere, and I can activate them so you can contact me for getting you to your destination! There are also a number of bus/shuttle services that do tours of the wineries and breweries. If you need the names of them, let me know! And, I can also do my own winery and/or brewery tour using LyftXL or UberXL, and you can contact me and find out how that works if you want! I'm constantly 're-modeling' the cottage---tweaking things and re-arranging. An industrial type stairway leading to the loft has been added for easier access to the loft. The pictures need to be updated, but as you can see from some reviews that the cottage looks better than the pictures---and, I agree! :) If you are sensitive to night time noise, there is a train track behind the houses that are across the street. The train blows its horn at the main intersection in Bridgman and the intersection down the street--you WILL hear the train and its horn overnight---until you are used to it, or unless you sleep very well! When available, early check in on your date of arrival is offered for $50, and you may arrive anytime after 8 AM. (Regular check in is after 3 PM.) When available, late checkout is also offered for $50, and you may checkout as late as 6 PM on the date of your departure. (Regular checkout is no later than 11 AM.) YOU MUST PRE-ARRANGE AND PAY FOR AN EARLY CHECK IN OR LATE CHECKOUT PRIOR TO YOUR STAY which is invoiced to you thru Airbnb. Early check in and late checkout are NOT available on dates that you arrive when guests are checking out, or when new guests arrive on the date you are checking out. Please inquire early if you wish to book either early check in or late checkout. ASK ABOUT TAKING A WINERY OR BREWERY TOUR! People from all over the midwest and the country—-and even international travelers!—love coming to Southwest Michigan to experience both the amazing wineries and breweries which are hugely concentrated in the area in and around Bridgman! I can provide a tour of wineries, breweries—-or both!—-for up to six guests!! My tour starts at your location and will be customized for what you prefer to see and drink. There are about ten wineries within about 15 miles of Bridgman and just about as many breweries! It’s not easy to get from one to the other unless you know what you’re doing——and know the area well! And, you can leave that up to me with only a little input from you regarding your preferences, or maybe there’s a specific winery or brewery that MUST be included on your tour! Each tour may be up to four hours—-I will pick you up wherever you’re staying and take you to your first destination. You will be able to spend about 45 minutes at each destination, as I have as many as two tours that will be occurring simultaneoulsy—-one starts on the hour and the other starts on the half hour. The final pick up is four hours after your tour begins and brings you back to where you started—-unless you decide you want to go back to a particular place or head to a restaurant or the beach! I’m more than happy to assist you with the details—-or just plan it all for you!
