Welcome 2026! We've been through a snowy, cold and gray Winter but 48 Vauxhall is ready to welcome you warmly. New linens, new pillows, new porch details and as always, sparkling clean. We've added some new items to our breakfast menu - think chocolate, pastry cream and fresh raspberries with our usual yummy scones, fresh fruit and a delicious entree. Enjoy beautifully appointed guest rooms and a fabulous, 3 course, locally-sourced breakfast. Come for local history, a lively downtown or just to clear your head. Close to US Coast Guard Academy, Conn College, Mitchell College, Beechwood Rehab, Ferries and Trains. New London is filled with history and the Post Hill District, recognized in the National Registry of Historic Districts, is packed with vintage homes. 48 Vauxhall Street is part of this historic district and mentioned in the national registry. The house is spacious and open with high ceilings and lots of windows including an original stained glass window that stands on the main staircase landing. The house is nicely furnished - I think it's pretty but not the least bit stuffy. Just comfortable. Its a great house for entertaining. From whaling captains' homes to the early industrialists of New London, the Post Hill District was home to New London's finest. Now the Post Hill District is a wonderful family neighborhood and only a short walk to downtown New London and its vibrant arts community and great restaurants. Guest access Guests can relax in their rooms, in a second floor library, a comfortable Living Room or on a really nice wrap-around porch complete with loads of vintage wicker and beautiful seasonal plants. A bluestone patio is a welcome retreat complete with a new Weber grill for your use. A perfect place to host a gathering. During your stay I really enjoy meeting the guests who stay at 48 Vauxhall. I guess I'm just curious but sitting on the porch at 5 o'clock and having a glass of wine is a treat for me. But I'm not tone deaf. I know some visitors would rather not socialize and that's really OK with me. Other things to note I promise you a really amazing breakfast. I try hard to keep my pantry filled with natural ingredients. I have an amazing relationship with the local chicken lady and I always try to give you a breakfast that you can tell your friends about.
