This three-bedroom, two bath mountain sanctuary is located just above the Stanislaus River in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Elevation 5,000 feet. The cabin is a short walk from the Old Strawberry bridge and several forest trails. A two story chalet-style cabin built in the 1960s, this cabin offers three bedrooms - the primary (#1) on the main level featuring a king-size bed, and in the upstairs loft, two more: one (#2) with a queen-size bed and the other (#3) with two twin beds. NOTE: By “loft”, we mean that the two upstairs bedrooms are not fully enclosed, and have a railing that allows you the full beauty of the forest view out the two story tall windows. Please refer to the listing photos for clarity. Additionally, the sofa in the great room is a queen size sofa-bed. We provide all bedding and towels - with lots of pillows, throws, and blankets. There is a full bathroom on the main floor and a half bath in the loft. (The upstairs bath is fully enclosed of course!) The main floor has a well equipped kitchen, dining room (able to seat 6+), full laundry, and a cozy fire-side seating area. The large, covered, wrap-around deck has eating, dozing, and playing spaces. The cabin includes high-speed wireless internet and basic cable. We have both worked via Zoom comfortably from the cabin. This cabin is ideal for couples or a small group of friends. The cabin will comfortably sleep six. The driveway is long enough to park your boat or camp trailer if you bring it along. Please limit car parking to 2 cars. We're just a five minute drive to Pinecrest Lake and Dodge Ridge, 15 minutes from Leland Snow Play and 35 minutes from Sonora. This cabin is the perfect home base for all of your adventures in the High Sierras. Note: Verizon and AT&T are currently the only cellular provider with service in the area. The cabin WiFi is sufficient to support calling on other carriers if your phone supports it. COVID-19 Notes: We have signed up for the AirBnB cleaning pledge. In addition to our standard (and in depth) cleaning program, our professional cleaners are following the state and CDC guidelines, including: disinfecting all commonly touched surfaces (light switches, railings, etc.), performing a deeper-clean on all surfaces, extra focus on the bathrooms and the kitchen, and generally making our home as clean as you have the right to expect. NOTE: While we provide soap, detergent, TP, etc., we cannot guarantee heavy consumables like charcoal, ice melt and firewood are available. Many guests leave some behind, and we do try to stock it, but sometimes people use way more than we expect and especially in deep snow, it is difficult to have wood or other large supplies delivered. There are so many things to do nearby. If you walk, hike, or mountain bike, check out the Sugar Pine Railroad trail -- it starts 100 yards from our front door and descends a very gentle 500 feet over 2.8 miles following the south side of the South Stanislaus River towards the Fraser Flat campground. Pinecrest Lake is five minutes away and offers easy summer hikes around the lake, sailing, boating, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, swimming, movies under the stars, ranger talks, and much, much more. Dodge Ridge ski area is less than 10 minutes away. They offer 862 acres of alpine skiing, snowboarding, nordic skiing and snowshoeing for all ages and abilities. For other winter/snow actives, Leland Snowplay, 15 minutes away, offers sledding, tubing, and other outdoor winter fun. Further afield, Kennedy Meadows is just down the road -- they offer horseback riding -- from day trips to pack trips into the Emigrant Wilderness. Throughout the area you can find world-class trout fishing, four-wheel driving adventures, hunting, bird-watching, and most any other outdoor activities.
