The Hatchery

The Hatchery lodge on Loch na Muilne: The Hatchery is a Finnish log lodge just outside Tolsta Chaolais, situated above Loch na Muilne on the west side of Lewis. Guests highly rate it for its location. Light-filled living space: The front is framed by floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of the loch and the Uig hills to the west. Downstairs features an open-plan living, dining, and kitchen area with an entrance porch. Kitchen, sleeping and bathroom: The kitchen is equipped with a stovetop, oven, refrigerator, toaster, coffee machine, and kettle; a washing machine is also included. There are two bedrooms, including a spacious mezzanine, and a walk-in shower. Outdoors, water and wildlife: A waterfall and stream run close to the side door. The lodge is located in an old quarry on the site of the owner’s former fish hatchery. Fishing and hiking are available nearby; the sun terrace and garden provide outdoor space. Parking and location: Free on-site private parking and bicycle parking are available. The Callanish Standing Stones are about 4 miles away, Dun Carloway Broch is within a couple of miles, and Stornoway Airport is about 21 miles away. In the well-equipped kitchen, guests will find a stovetop, a refrigerator, kitchenware and an oven.
