The space In Castelo Novo, a historic Portuguese village nestled between the Serra da Gardunha, granite and water, Lagarto Pintado Casa n’Aldeia breathes new life into a 19th-century family home, reimagined for the 21st century. "Lagarto Pintado, who painted you? It was the morning sun that struck the stone. It was the blue of the pool that the sky chose. It was those who came to visit and found themselves here." Once upon a time, there was a house in the village. Lagarto Pintado (a white house amidst so many stone ones) was the home of Grandfather João and Grandmother Rosa, who ran a blanket factory on the banks of the Ribeira de Alpreade. Rosa – their granddaughter – had always wanted the house to come back to life. Pedro and Rosa – husband and wife, parents of three, lived in Cascais.
