Private and Luxurious Rustic Hideaway on Barren River Lake

Welcome to our private paradise on Barren River Lake. Our rustic, hand-hewn log cabin is the perfect retreat for anyone needing a break from the mad rush of life without sacrificing the comforts of home. Surround yourself with the chirping of birds, the croak of frogs, and the song of the wind blowing through the trees. Spy on wildlife as they make their way down to the lake for a drink, or wend your way down the path to your own private shallow swimming beach and dock. Search for fossils along the beach, toss a line in for fish, or hop in your boat for a casual float around the lake. Your closest neighbors lie across the lake, but you are still close to the conveniences of Walnut Creek Marina and Boat drop, and you are still within 5 miles of downtown Scottsville and the entrance to the Barren River State Park. The accommodations include a 720 square foot cabin and a totally private acre of lake fronted forest. The cabin has one large bedroom area upstairs, featuring a queen size bed and a day bed with a trundle. We have one bathroom with a shower and tub. The small kitchen features full size appliances, and everything you need to cook and serve your meals. The main living area features leather and antique furniture, a stone fireplace with a propane log fire, a TV with basic cable, and high speed WIFI. There is a screened in balcony off the bedroom perfect for your morning coffee or evening reading nook, a wood deck off the back with year round views of the water (lake view from April through late October, creek view through the winter). This is the perfect spot for a small family, a couple seeking a private week away, artists or authors seeking inspiration and solitude, or anyone just needing to get back in touch with nature. We do not, however, recommend this rental for anyone with mobility limitations as there are rocky steps, stairs inside, and an unimproved forest trail down to access the lake. There are no pets allowed at this property. Please keep in mind that properties on the lake are on small septic systems. When we say this property is suitable for 4 people, that is really the maximum number of people the septic system can handle. Please do not plan large gatherings.
