High Haven Summer Rental
This has been our hidden gem for 40+ years providing peace and tranquility relaxing in the scent of pine, and experiencing a touch of nature viewing hummingbirds, chipmunks, squirrels, and an occasional fox, deer, or bear. For the adventuresome, take a hike to the pool or to town and its restaurants, visit the Lake and gazebo. Hike the 2.5 mile circuit down Hondo Ave and up Belvidere Ave to the Green Mountain Falls, the trailhead for numerous other hiking trails, and back to the cabin. Besides a fully equipped kitchen we have an outdoor electrical grill, a waffle maker, a blender, various spices and cooking condiments such as sugar, flour, tea and coffee, and PAM spray. At street level there are two reserved parking spots. To detract the bears, we provide an indoor trash receptacle. You are free to hike directly behind our cabin as far and high up the mountain as you like. I am normally available via cell phone (720-272-9120) although I live in Denver proper, if you encounter any problems and certainly on an emergency basis . Collette Harmon, who lives directly across the street, is also available at 719-491-6501 after 4:00 pm on a limited basis for emergencies. Generally there is very little car traffic on Hondo Ave near our cabin; there is a lot of foot traffic as hikers head up to the Green Mountain Falls to hike one of the numerous trails. No local public transportation in Green Mountain Falls, CO. There are various buses that take gamblers up to Cripple Creek and back for a nominal charge (this would allow you to enjoy the great scenery up and back). However, you should make reservations with one of these carriers and pickup is either in Colorado Springs or Manitou Springs. We recommend visiting (unfortunately the Air Force Academy-is closed due to the pandemic) downtown Manitou Springs, the Cave of the Winds, Seven Falls (in the evening) near the Broadmoor, the Broadmoor, the Olympics Training Facilities in Colorado Springs, traveling up Pikes Peak either by car or the Pikes Peak cog rail, the chuckwagon dinner/entertainment at the Flying W ranch, the free Garden of the Gods, the North Pole, the dinosaur exhibit at Woodland Parks, and a trip to Cripple Creek or a rafting trip on the Arkansas river (while there visit the royal gorge bridge).
