The historic features in this century building include vaulted ceilings, wood beams, gas fireplace, skylight, and views of famous Seven Doors of Elora. Maximum 4 guests. King bed in the loft + available singles sofa bed and rollout cot. The unit is on the 2nd floor of a historic building. The space Built in 1865, this historic 3-story red brick building boasts stunning architecture. Once home to John R. Connon, who in 1887 invented the Panoramic camera from the widow’s peak at the top of the building! It has a rich history: a war-time knitting factory, a dinner and dance hall in the 50s and 60s, and an art gallery in the 80s regularly featuring the Group of Seven. Finally purchased by the Drimmie family (who still owns it today) in 1988, it has been loved and enjoyed by the family ever since, hosting the family florist business (Drimmie Florist below), retail space, and rental units. Guest access Guests have full access to the entire loft, including the loft bedroom overlooking the unit, living room with sofa bed, and well-appointed kitchen. Enjoy big windows with beautiful views of Elora. Parking is behind the building, accessible from Church Street, with 1 designated spot for Unit 2. Street parking is available—check signs for time limits. There’s also a municipal lot at the top of town next to the LCBO. Enter through the door on Church Street facing the painted seven doors of Elora. The unit is directly in front of you at the top of the first flight of stairs marked Unit 2. Access via a smart lock with a personalized temporary code. Other things to note Some other details to note: The building is very historic (built in 1865) and we’ve kept as much original as possible. If you’re looking for a state-of-the-art new build, this may not be the right fit. But if you appreciate the charm (and quirks!) of a historic home, you’ll love it here. • The building has no central heating or AC. It’s heated by a gas fireplace and cooled with a portable AC unit in the summer. • As the unit is a loft-style space, temperature may fluctuate slightly between the main floor and the loft. • The steps leading up to the unit may be steep for some. • Inside, the king-size bed is in the loft, accessible via a steep vintage metal spiral staircase. While safe and reinforced, it may be challenging for young children or those with mobility issues. • The loft is open to the living room and kitchen below, with no full wall for privacy. The sofa bed is directly below the loft. And the only doors in the unit are the main entrance and the bathroom door.
