This house is surrounded by growth. High trees provide shade while grilling out and the wooded lot gives a feeling of being somewhere much more remote. There are exactly seventy stairs to the water. The dock provides a great place to relax and eat and drink. The water off the dock is 7ft deep, so jump right in. It is possible to tie a boat up to the outside of the dock so feel free to bring your own or rent one from the nearby Marina. The house has two bedrooms upstairs, along with both bathrooms. There is an open concept kitchen, dining room, and living room upstairs as well. If it rains, you can keep yourself occupied with the poker table, pool table or foosball. There is also an additional living room downstairs plus another back room with a queen bed and bunk beds. The entire property will be yours. There is one neighbor to the right, and nothing but trees to the left. You will have zero interaction with others. I work evenings so I will be easily available for day time arrivals. I will respond promptly in the evening as well, just please bear with me if it takes a few minutes. Most of the homes in this neighborhood are vacation properties. It is quiet and relaxing. There are a few places to get essentials, but it is best if you bring everything you need with you. In the name of full transparency, please read the following. Through five seasons of renting I have gotten a few complaints about certain features that are not going to change. To ensure your expectations are met, I will go over those complaints. Please make your decision on whether or not any of these are a deal breaker. And before renting any place on Airbnb, do a deep dive into the comments section to see what everyone is saying! As with any lake house, there will be bugs. This is a very heavily wooded lot and with that comes nature. That is part of the charm, but for some, it can be a pain. I spray twice a year but try to keep the pesticides to a minimum. As long as no doors are left open, the inside will stay bug free. This lake house was built in 1994 and while I have done a ton to update it and keep it nice, it will show it's age. It comfy, cozy, and awesome, but if you are looking for sleek, modern, and completely updated, I'm not sure this is the place for you. Being located in rural southern Virginia means I have had a hard time finding a reliable cleaning service. This means that for every stay, I drive up from Raleigh, NC and clean everything myself. While I am happy to do this, the rental season is extremely busy and even though you are being charged a $125 cleaning fee, there is an expectation that you treat the house as if you are a guest in someone's home. I'm not asking you to leave the house spotless, but my hope is that you can strip the beds, start a load of laundry, run the dishwasher, and haul your trash to the curb. That will allow me to focus on wiping every surface, sanitizing both bathrooms, finishing the laundry, putting away the dishes, resetting the beds, and tidying the outside. The same morning you leave, someone else is arriving that afternoon. Please help me make sure that the next person's friends and family also have a perfect stay. If you can deal with an older house that may have a few bugs and put forward just a little effort to keep it clean, this place is exactly what you are looking for. The surrounding area is quiet, the water off the dock is deep and cool, there are a ton of games and activities, the boat launch is a half mile away and the kitchen is huge.
