Rustic tiny home retreat on private lake

Description

Slip away from the world to this rustic retreat on a private lake. Fifteen minutes from the charming town of Coldwater, you'll find privacy and solitude in this unique off-grid eco cabin, with a loft and plenty of space to put your feet up. Enjoy meals over an open fire and have your morning coffee on the fully screened-in porch while you watch the local wildlife, including otters, moose, deer, beavers and nesting swans. The perfect retreat for creative minds and solace-seekers. The space The cabin is small and cozy, with a bed in the loft and a futon in the main living space, below. The loft is accessed by a ladder. There is also a fold-down table in the living space for dining or working, and a second sitting area on the screened-in porch. In tune with the full rustic experience, there is no power or running water, though the cabin is equipped with plenty of candles and battery-powered lights. We highly recommend bringing a powerbank for your cellphones, though we have them available for use if you’re in a pinch. There is an outside cooking area with a propane burner and a firepit. The outhouse is quite spacious and has a composting toilet. Please be aware that due to the cabin's remote nature, there is a short hike through the forest to reach it, including a climb up a hill. Backpacks or other luggage that can be easily carried are recommended! Guest access You will have the entire tiny home to yourself. We will be on the property and you may see us walking by the lake, but we are strong believers in privacy and peace, and you will be mostly by yourself. Other things to note There are two portable hammocks available for guest use! How things work at the off-grid cabin: Water: Guests must bring their own drinking water. Clean water for dishwashing and showers will be provided in large jugs and are stocked at the woodshed by your parking area. There is a hand pump on the bottles to use for dishwashing/handwashing. Power: The cabin is off-grid and has no power, but is equipped with lots of candles and battery-powered lights. Heat/AC: The cabin is insulated but does not have heat or AC. However, it is well-ventilated for the summer heat and is equipped with a portable fan. For chilly nights it's stocked with hot water bottles and extra blankets to cozy up with. Fridge and food storage: For bear safety, we ask that guests store all food and scented goods (soaps, etc) inside the cabin or in their vehicle at night. There is no fridge, but we provide a cooler and we always have ice packs ready to switch out and keep your perishables cold. We do not stock salt, pepper, oil, tea or coffee at the cabin. Bathroom: There is a spacious outhouse with a composting toilet. Showers: There is a camp shower in a private, outdoor shower stall. Firewood and propane: Canisters of propane for the propane cookstove and firewood are provided and will be waiting for you at the cabin. We regret that the remote nature of the cabin does limit accessibility. Please reach out if you have any specific accessibility concerns. *Canoe may not be available during your stay*
