Description
A furnished roomy bedroom with a queen-size bed for 1 person (tight for 2). READ ENTIRE PROFILE & LOOK AT THE PICTURES to answer questions. Located in Washington Heights. This is a cool place to relax. 7 blocks from the A train, 2 blocks from the C train, and 4 blocks from the 1 train. (Map is in pictures) The bathroom is shared. If you want to stay longer than one month, please let me know. The space The building is close to the hospital and great for nurses, nursing students, traveling nurses, or temporary Columbia Presbyterian employees. My place is a humble apartment. Please be responsible and conscientious, and keep the apartment clean. I enjoy hosting and meeting people from all over the world - it can be fun. The space is a simple private large bedroom with a queen-size bed with nightstands on each side. You are the only person(s) in the room. You don't have to share the room with anybody. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE PROFILE - EVERYTHING! PLEASE DO NOT MAKE RESERVATIONS FOR OTHER PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT ON YOUR AIRBNB ACCOUNT. Making reservations for others is prohibited by Airbnb. If something (such as an accident) were to happen to them, Airbnb or I will not be liable, YOU WILL BE. FRIEND VISITS It's ok for friends, boyfriends, or girlfriends to come visit, but for at most three days. Do not have your friends stay the entire time; this will create inconvenience. Remember the room is for one person, for you, not others as well. I say this respectfully, if you intend to have your friend stay here, it's best to choose another place to stay. TRANSPORTATION The M4 bus is across the street, and it will take you south or north of Manhattan. There are three subways in the area, and all are nearby. The apartment is between three subway stops... the A express (6 blocks away at 168th street) is about a 10-minute walk, the C (2 blocks away at 161st street) is about a 5-minute walk, and the 1 train (5 blocks away at 157th) is about a 6-7 minute walk. When taking the A express subway, you will be three stops from Central Park and four stops to Times Square. THE NEIGHBORHOOD: You will be in the heart of a neighborhood. You'll see the culture, and you will hear what goes on in the area. It is an active area where you'll see people outside socializing and having fun. At times, you'll hear the neighbors talking, laughing, or playing music (not very loud). During your stay, you will be a resident. CURFEW: There is no curfew. You can come in and out as you like, and all I ask is for you to come in quietly. LUGGAGE MY PLACE IS NOT A HOTEL, I say this respectfully - At times, guests want to leave their luggage here before the check-in time. I do not allow this, it can be disrespectful to the guests who are already present and to me when I'm cleaning the place and preparing it for the upcoming guest. I say this respectfully - At times, guests want to leave their luggage at the apartment after check-out time, I do not allow this - please respect the check-out time of 12 pm, so please plan accordingly. Remember, "check out" means that you and all your personal belongings are out of the premises - if you leave your items after check out, I will not be responsible for them, and a $20 per hour charge will be enforced via Airbnb and me. CHECKING OUT IDEAS: On a few occasions, guests need to check out at 12 pm in the afternoon however, their flight is at 11:30 pm or later that evening. A suggestion for peace of mind, you could make a reservation for another day so you don't have to carry your luggage all over the city and be very inconvenienced. Some guests have tried this and were glad they did it. Once again, it's only a suggestion. CHECKING IN IDEAS: Some guests arrive in NYC at 6 am, however, since check-in is at 6 pm guests need to wait. Some guests have made their reservation a day sooner so the room will be ready and come in at any time they please. This gives guests peace of mind, and they can start their fun in NYC sooner. HEAT AND AIR CONDITIONER: During the winter, there is heat and during the hot summer, there is an air conditioner (extra charge - $5 a day). Use of the air conditioner is very costly, especially during the summer therefore it can be used when the outside temperature reaches above 85 degrees. If you choose to use the air conditioner, during your stay there will be an extra cost - please let me know ahead of time if you want to use it, the proper fees will be added, and then I will install it for you - I'd like you to be comfortable. In the wintertime, there is a boiler in the room and it heats up the room. The heat comes from the basement and to adjust the level of heat simply turn the knob to the right to reduce heat and to the left to increase the heat. CLEANING: I am the one who cleans the room - I wash the comforter, all the sheets, the floor, the kitchen, and the bathroom. You can use the bathroom and have a good hot shower before or after your activities. It is a shared bathroom - please keep it clean. After showering, please close the shower curtains and hang up the bath mat. There is a radio in the bathroom, and you are welcome to listen to it while you shower or bathe. I also provide shampoo and body wash for the guests - please do not use my shampoo, shaving cream, razor blades, and soap. Please be considerate and respectful. FOOD, REFRIGERATOR, AND UTENSILS: The refrigerator is also shared, and you can place food in there - please keep it clean. I save a section in the refrigerator for the guests to keep their food. There is no cooking in the kitchen. Do not overstock your food in refrigerator, please. There are two markets one block away, and you can get food as you go. I do ask my guests not to eat my food or drink my beverages, please. Please be respectful and considerate. Purchase your own food and beverages (including water, soda, juice, coffee, and coffee filters). When it is time for you to eat, please do so in the room or at the kitchen table. You can cook on the stove, please clean up everything after you are done. Please be careful with the dishes, plates, glasses, and cooking utensils - please do not break them. Please do not use the microwave after 10:30 pm - it can be noisy, and I have to work the next morning. Please be finished with everything on or before 10:30 pm. Do not store food in the bedroom because mice or cockroaches WILL find it and eat it. CLEANLINESS: I ask that the guests please clean everything they use, be it the bedroom, bathroom, or kitchen. I say this with respect - I do not want to clean up after you, please be responsible and considerate adults. TRASH AND UNWANTED INSECTS: In NYC, you will see rodents in the subway stations and large insects, cockroaches. I do not like cockroaches in the apartment, and they are not allowed. Here's how to keep them out. Store ALL your food and leftovers in the refrigerator and throw out your food trash (coffee cups, soda cans, bottles of water, food wrappers, McDonald's bags, etc) in the basement. Once the roaches smell ANY trace of food, they will come, they are aggressive. Remember to store your food in the refrigerator and throw out food trash in the basement as soon as possible. PETS No dogs or cats are allowed. YOUR PRIVATE BUSINESS: Not all guests come to NYC for vacation and fun, some come to take care of business, take classes, or short-term jobs. Please take care of private work, personal matters, social media, Zoom calls, and homework-related projects in the private room - the kitchen and living room are personal spaces. Please don't sit in the kitchen, read emails, check social media, or talk on your cell phone (this impedes me from cooking and eating because your personal items are on the table, including yourself), and please do not use my living room - the living room is my personal space. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE PROFILE! Guest access KEYS: I will have one set of keys for you to use during your stay. LAUNDRY There is a laundromat for one-day service around the corner. They are called Metropolitan Laundromat Inc - they are pretty good too. WI-FI I have Wi-Fi and you are welcome to log onto it. TELEVISION If you have a laptop, iPad, Smartphone, or iPhone you can watch television by downloading the Spectrum app or by going to Spectrum Live Online TV website (I will give you the ID and Password when you arrive - I only ask that you not use it after you leave). There is also a TV in the room so you can watch Netflix or other apps (use your accounts). During your stay You will notice the old-style buildings throughout the area, and you will notice older architecture. This building was made in 1900, and it has some old features. My apartment has older features that are vintage in appearance. I also live here too so you will be seeing me as well. I am easy going and some spaces will be shared such as the bathroom and kitchen. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. It is always great talking to guests when they are here, and I do respect their privacy, so if you notice that I am quiet it is because I leave my guests alone to show respect - please do not mistake this for rudeness. I always ask my guests to keep the place clean and be mindful of others. If you use the kitchen utensils - please clean them. After using the bathroom either to shower or relieve yourself please keep the bathroom clean and especially DRY! (I have a bath mat you can step on upon exiting the shower) If you get the toilet dirty please clean it after using it, nobody wants to come to use the toilet with urine sprinkled on the rim or other things - please keep it clean and wipe it up. Please remember that I live here too ok? I do not want to clean up after you - please be responsible adults. Please treat my place as if it were your own place. I would like your stay to be as pleasant as possible and I want to be pleasant while you are here too. Other things to note Cooking is allowed in the kitchen, and please clean the plates, utensils, pots and pans, and stove after cooking. ORDERING ITEMS ONLINE If you need to order items online and have them delivered to this residence, be sure to order your items when you get here, so they can arrive while you are here. Make sure your delivery instructions are to leave the delivery at the door, not in the lobby. Sometimes people steal the packages in the lobby. DAMAGES I do ask all the guests to take care of all the items in the bedroom. If an item is damaged, I will ask you to pay for it. If bedsheets or the comforter are left bloody and damaged, they cannot be cleaned. I will be asking you to pay for the damages and to replace them. If bedsheets or towels are damaged or stolen, you will be asked to pay for the damages. If plates, dishes, pots, pans, and utensils are damaged or stolen, I will ask you to replace them. Please be respectful. BATHROOM AND SHOWER Please take care of my place, and (I say this respectfully). When guests do arrive here, I do ask them to do a few things - first, after showering, please close the shower curtains and hang up the bath mat - second, please close the entrance door and bedroom door quietly upon entering or exiting. I really would like the apartment to be maintained, and please respect ME and my place.
